    Frame 32: Selby 16-15 Higgins

In tense times like this, I feel it is my duty to keep highlighting your rubbish jokes to lighten the mood. We had one from Tim Stubbs.

Now, Craig Allan joins in the carnage.

That's enough now. Unless, they are funny of course.

  2. Re-rack timepublished at 22:11 British Summer Time 1 May 2017

    Frame 32: Selby 16-15 Higgins

Right, like a false start in athletics, frame 32 has been a complete waste of time. Both players have eight points, the ball is stuck in the pack of reds so a re-rack happens.

Everyone, forget the last five minutes. They didn't happen.

    Re rack

Still more debate on whether the black ball moved in the 31st frame:

cfarry88: I've seen about 30 replays, and I still can't tell whether that black moved.

Ollie Samuels: This is the most contentious thing ever to happen at a Championship final.

Jack Mills: At first I thought the white touched the black ball. After seeing more and more replays, I don't think it did touch.

David: I think people with the more expensive TV's will have seen it rock!!

    Frame 31: Selby 16-15 Higgins

    Steve Davis
Six-time world champion at The Crucible

From one angle I thought it had moved but from another I am not sure. I don't think he did hit it and referee Jan Verhaas was the closest to it, so I think I'd go with that.

  8. Higgins wins a controversial onepublished at 22:02 British Summer Time 1 May 2017

    Frame 31: Selby 16-15 Higgins (47-74)

John Higgins wins that frame, but all the talk is about whether Mark Selby hit the black. Referee Jan Verhaas said he didn't and penalised Selby by seven points.

It also meant he had to play safe, and Higgins had a substantial break shortly after.

Selby got back to the table, but Higgins won it by 74-48.

In all the furore, it means Higgins is now only one behind again.

    This is huge.

Differing opinions on that controversial moment and whether Selby hit the black ball or not. In my opinion, he did feather a touch on it.

Selby is now unsettled, can he keep himself together?

Vanessa Williamson: Replayed that eight times and I couldn't see it touch,  husband is shouting that "it definitely did!"

At least Selby can get back to the table in this frame after that 'foul' controversy. Of course, if he goes on to win the frame then no-one will care.

    And some more comments...

Andy Gibson: 100% it did hit imo. The black definitely moved. But agree with the refs decision if he didn't see it. Calm head now Mark.

Nick Foulkes: Drama in the snooker. Pretty sure on first replay that black moved?

Caitlin McCulloch: Good on Jan Verhaas for sticking to that decision, great referee - sad it'll be his last Crucible final!

John O'Connor: Clearly didn't hit the black.

    Or, alternatively...

Ryan Swan: Wrong decision from the referee there, definitely looked like the black moved a fraction

    Mark Selby and match referee

A little bit of controversy as Mark Selby is penalised after referee Jan Verhaas judges that Selby failed to hit a black, when playing for a snooker.

Selby is not too happy, and if it did hit, the contact was minimal. We might hear more about that later on.

Emma Dennis: Gripping, had three cups of tea since the beginning of the session.

David Potter: considering all the items on a snooker table,(plants, cannons and suchlike) it's a wonder they can pot two balls in a row.

Gleneagles: This is a proper grind fest! The two best match players in the world going head to head.

OK, every time I say that they immediately play for the blue. Selby is on 46, but, wait, disaster. He's snookered himself behind the yellow. That was the frame in his hand right there. (46-0)
