Frame 2: Mark Allen 0-1 Kyren Wilson

An encouraging start for Kyren Wilson, and Mark Allen will be wondering how that first frame slipped away from him. He got unlucky with position going into the pack of reds and his only real mistake - leaving a long red on - was heavily punished.

Still, he slaps in an early long red in the second frame and doesn't look to be bothered too much by falling behind.

  9. Kyren shows he can handle pressurepublished at 13:59 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

    Steve Davis
Six-time UK champion on BBC Two

I don't think Kyren would have played in front of an audience as big as this. If you can handle this you can handle anything.

  10. 'Good start'published at 13:59 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

Frame 1: Mark Allen 0-1 Kyren Wilson

    John Parrott
1991 world champion on BBC Two

A really good frame. Mark was unlucky, but Kyren potted a long red, which is the kind of shot you want to start a final with. It was his first real chance in the final and he wasn't phased at all.

  17. We will cope without O'Sullivan - Hearnpublished at 13:50 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2018

World Snooker chairman Barry Hearn says he is confident the sport can survive without Ronnie O'Sullivan.

O'Sullivan, 42, reiterated this week he will "probably" miss the 2018 World Championship in Sheffield unless the "terms and conditions" are right. The five-time winner previously said he may film a television show instead.

"My dream would be Ronnie lasts for ever. My other dream is I produce six more Ronnie O'Sullivans to replace him when he goes," Hearn said.

Hearn, who is also the chairman of the Professional Darts Corporation, told BBC Radio 5 live's Sportsweek programme that recent events in that sport make him feel positive snooker can thrive in a post-O'Sullivan era.

"We had exactly the same thing in the world of darts - Phil Taylor has retired and everyone says 'he's the greatest player ever, what are we going to do?'.

"He retires, someone else [Rob Cross] wins, the game hits bigger figures than it's hit before and snooker will be the same."
