    O'Sullivan 6-2 Wilson

Kyren Wilson came out of a sticky situation in his semi-final against Anthony McGill to progress to this final.

And if his extraordinary final-frame win doesn't stand him in good stead I don't what will.

Just watch this. I've never seen anything like it before.

    Good evening.

That looks like a quietly satisfied look on Ronnie O'Sullivan's face doesn't it?

And he has every reason to be after opening up a 6-2 lead over Kyren Wilson.

So far so good on his quest for a sixth world title.

Right it is time for me to head off.

You can read how Ronnie O'Sullivan surged into a 6-2 lead over Kyren Wilson here.

I'll see you all for Saturday evening's session at around 19:15 BST.

  4. Watch: Higgins' sensational 147published at 16:52 British Summer Time 15 August 2020

Four-time champion John Higgins may not be involved over the weekend but he's still in line to pick up around £40,000 after making a superb 147 break in his second round defeat to Kurt Maflin.

Mind that could all change if either or both of these players were to repeat that in the final. In which case the money is divvied out between them.

In the meantime I think it is fair to say that Ronnie O'Sullivan's century break was one of a very few highlights.

So with that in mind enjoy....

    Stephen Hendry

I tend to the think the match is over as a contest. I hope I'm wrong because I want it to be a good match but think 6-2 is too much for Kyren to come back from.

    O'Sullivan 6-2 Wilson

    Ken Doherty
1997 world champion on BBC Two

It's been a different Ronnie O'Sullivan today. It has not been the slap, bang, wallop and you can see how much he was concentrating.

He knew how important that frame was and he was really trying.

Ronnie O'Sullivan far from his brilliant best but he'll be over the moon to take the session 6-2.

Kyren Wilson MISSES a long pink to win the frame.

Ronnie O'Sullivan is going to go 6-2 up. Surely.

Yep. He rolls in the pinks and ends up perfectly on the black. Nightmare conclusion for Wilson.

The difference between 6-2 and 5-3 is massive. This feels like the most important frame of the session.

In goes the blue. But Ronnie O'Sullivan pushes his white too far to get position on the pink.

    This is remarkable.

    Frame eight: O'Sullivan 5-2 Wilson

Ronnie O'Sullivan lays a snooker. Kyren Wilson gets out of it. Repeat.

You get the drift. This is nerve-jangling stuff.

And Wilson finally misses. 'The Rocket' has an angle to pot the blue and get down for the pink.

    Frame eight: O'Sullivan 5-2 Wilson

Talk about drama. Ronnie O'Sullivan sinks the green and brown, after a poor attempted pot from Kyren Wilson but then misses an unmissable blue.

Can't remember the last time I saw players of this calibre miss so many good chances.

Wilson needs the blue to secure the frame. Ronnie needs all three balls.

    Frame eight: O'Sullivan 5-2 Wilson

Hello...Ronnie O'Sullivan is out of position on the green but he's still able to lay a snooker.

This could be a tense finale to the session.

    Frame eight: O'Sullivan 5-2 Wilson

Kyren Wilson is edging towards winning this frame but he isn't there yet.

He tries to play a long red into the top left corner at dead weight from a really awkward stance but it immediately drifts left.

Ronnie plays a scratchy safety but then Wilson puts him back in with a wild attempt to the top right corner. What a blow losing this frame would be for the 2018 Masters finalist.

    Frame eight: O'Sullivan 5-2 Wilson

    Wow this is nervy stuff.

Kyren Wilson comes a cropper on an easyish red into the bottom right corner and then Ronnie flunks a blue. The score is 33-17 in Wilson's favour.

If he can just hold his nerve the finishing line is in sight.
