Italy win the first point with some sharp play at the net, before the Britons combine at the net to make it 15-15. Dark clouds loom over the Bay of Naples, and over Bolelli when he double faults for 15-30. Fleming plays a fine backhand return down the line and it's two break points.... Murray makes the return but Fognini is alive at the net and covers the danger, and Fleming then goes long with a volley. Deuce, and Bolelli clips the tape with a forehand that leaps just wide of the tramlines, as confirmed by a trip down from the chair by the umpire. Break point number three... Britain look to have it but a defensive lob from Bolelli lands on the baseline and Fleming nets. Set point Italy.... Fleming nets the return and we're heading into a fourth set.

"Let's go, GB, let's go!" Not my words, the words of the massed ranks of British fans in Naples. Murray hooks a defensive backhand lob over Fognini and it drops inside the baseline, and then he slams a backhand return winner down the line. Fleming is doing a great job holding up his end, but Murray is just in a different class at the moment.

"It's most difficult to play doubles against a singles guy who's played a singles match that day, and you can see it here with Andy Murray. He's right in the zone. I'd love to see more singles guys playing doubles, I think the more the better, but sometimes it can be draining to play both and they've got to think about their careers."
