Alex, Maidenhead: All those saying Sharapova is disappointing please try and respect the opponent instead. Muguruza was little known before this tournament but is playing so well which have shown in the results she has had.

Sharapova reacts brilliantly to pick up a heavy backhand return and send it back for a winner off the line. That brings up two set points but Muguruza hauls the Russian back to deuce. It's another set point and this time, Sharapova gets it as Bouchard nets. The Spaniard berates herself while Sharapova drops her head, wipesher face and heads to the chair. Muguruza has read Sharapova's game so well all day, sometimes running for shots which Sharapova hasn't even hit yet, but in this game, the Russian is showing signs of changing it up and as a result gets herself a break point with a stunning backhand down the line. She has the Spaniard running in the next point and eventually forces the error. Sharapova breaks. Can she hold serve to take this match into a decider?

It's another pretty easy service hold for Sharapova and we're back to 5-5 and heading for a second-set tie-break.

Eugenie Bouchard (pictured) breaks Carla Suarez Navarro in the first game of the second set, having won the first on a tie-break, but then loses her serve to love in the next game. So it's 1-1 in the second set on Suzanne Lenglen.

Huge hold from Muguruza, the Spaniard hitting back from 0-30 to win four straight points and force Sharapova to serve to stay in the match.

Sharapova has got her movement back which in turn has allowed her to dictate points on her serve. What a difference it makes. The Russian cruises through her service game to love - the first time she has done that in the match - to heap the pressure back on Muguruza.

As Muguruza edges towards yet another huge upset at Roland Garros, a few errors are starting to creep into the her game with Sharapova getting some opportunities. The Russian isn't able to take them, though, and Muguruza throws in an exquisite drop shot on her way to an impressive hold.

For the second time in the match, Sharapova throws in two double faults in a single game to gift Muguruza the break back. The momentum swings back to the unseeded Spaniard.

Muguruza stops the rot by holding serve, but she was forced to deuce by Sharapova as her unforced error county balloons to 15, five fewer than Sharapova who couldn't buy a winner in the first set.

Muguruza continues to give Sharapova plenty to think about with some brilliant returns, but the Russian fires a timely second ace of the match to clinch the game to 30.

And over on Philippe Chatrier, Maria Sharapova is digging her heels in at last, the Russian putting Garbine Muguruza under some pressure. The Spaniard throws in a double-fault to gift Sharapova a break point and then hands the game over with a backhand error. Sharapova breaks.
