  1. Tuesday's order of playpublished at 18:32 British Summer Time 23 June 2014

If you've not got Court One tickets, there's a strong line-up to look forward to with fourth seed Roger Federer first up against Paolo Lorenzi of Italy.

Maria Sharapova, who won her first Grand Slam title 10 years ago at the All England Club aged 17, plays Britain's Samantha Murray in the second match.

And Canada's Eugenie Bouchard, the 13th seed, completes the line up, the 2014 Australian Open and French Open semi-finalist, takes on Daniela Hantuchova.

Nope, it certainly wasn't a fight-back - Novak Djokovic breaks Andrey Golubev in the 11th game of the third set, and will now serve for a straight sets victory. He's been as ruthless and authorative as he was distracted and off-key in the final a year ago.

  3. Tuesday's order of playpublished at 18:27 British Summer Time 23 June 2014

Tomorrow's order of play is out, folks, and it's 19th seed Sabine Lisicki who opens proceedings on Centre Court against Julia Gushko.

Rafael Nadal is second on, the second seed taking on Martin Klizan while five-time Wimbledon champion Serena Williams follows against Anna Tatishvili.

The big news of the day, of course, is that Britain's Andy Murray successfully opened his title defence with a straight-sets victory over David Goffin.

Elsewhere, Tomas Berdych lost the first set before beating Romania's Victor Hanescu 6-7 (5-7) 6-1 6-4 6-3.

There were also wins for 12th seed Ernests Gulbis, 17th seed Mikhail Youzhny and Queen's Club champion Grigor Dimitrov, the 11th seed.

On the women's side, former US Open champion Sam Stosur of Australia and fellow seed Sloane Stephens were both knocked out on the opening day of action at Wimbledon.

However, former champion Venus Williams and second seed Li Na progressed to the second round.

You wouldn't call it a fight-back, not quite yet, but Golubev has at least halted the steamroller - he's at 3-3 in the third, which is three times as many games as he won in the first two sets.

It's not such good news for Dan Evans, who has never previously been past the first round at Wimbledon in two attempts. The Briton trails Andrey Kuznetsov 6-1 7-5 in their best-of-five-set match.

Britain's Naomi Broady has pulled off a sensational comeback in her match against Hungary's Timea Babos. The 24-year-old wins 2-6 7-6 (9-7) 6-0 on court 16 to reach the second round of a Grand Slam for the first time in her career.

Evening all, Lawrence here in the hot seat to take you through until close of play. Over on court three, former champion and sixth seed Petra Kvitova has begun her Wimbledon campaign against Andrea Hlavackova. It's currently going with serve at two games all.

And that's the second set trousered by the number one seed - Djokovic now 6-0 6-1 up on Golubev, and we've only been going for slightly more than three-quarters of an hour. If you're wondering if any records could be broken here, it's worth pointing out that Fred Perry's victory over Baron Gottfried von Cramm in the 1936 men's singles final - 6-1 6-1 6-0, you'll recall - lasted a grand total of 40 minutes. Half the crowd must have missed it in the queue for iced lemonades.

This is quick by Novak Djokovic even by the standards of Formula One great Sir Jackie Stewart, who is in attendance to watch the Serb on Centre Court along with wife Helen.

"The crowd are seeing an exhibition of tennis here from Novak Djokovic. Normally it takes you time to build up to this level in a tournament, yet not today."

Naomi Broady is a break to the good in the decider against Timea Babos, leading 2-6 7-6 (9-7) 1-0.

There could be a second round meeting with former world number one Caroline Wozniacki in store for the winner. Wozniacki plays Shahar Peer in her opener.

Little succour or relief for Golu out on Centre - another break of serve, and he's now stern down and taking on water at 0-4 in the second. This match has only been going on for 38 minutes. Maybe Novak wants to get done in time for the last 20 minutes of Chile v Holland.

It has been an impressive opening day for the top men's seeds. With Andy Murray and Novak Djokovic making swift work of their opening-day opposition, Jo Wilfried Tsonga has steamrollered through the first set against Jurgen Melzer.

"An emphatic first set from Tsonga. 21 minutes of unpleasantness comes to an end for Melzer. I'm sure we all thought it was going to be a little closer than this. Tsonga is pulverising his opponent."

"The fact that Novak Djokovic didn't play a grass court warm-up tournament is having no effect whatsoever. And I think as long as you have a good run at the French Open, I don't think you need it. Next year, with a three-week gap, it's a different matter. But with a two-week gap, it's not so important. The top players need an hour or two to get used to grass. Rafa Nadal, for instance, gets three feet closer to the baseline. It's instinctive. You don't need to get the manual out. Novak's had plenty of matches, and he knows what's best."

Early break for Djoko in the second set - we've still had just 32 minutes of this contest, but Golubev is already staring down the end of an old-fashioned schooling. A chap in the crowd sporting no.16 in the list of Classic Wimbledon Looks: the pastel polo shirt with cashmere jumper draped across the shoulders. Textbook.

"Melzer is getting first serves in (82%). On paper, I think he has a game to play on grass but he is only winning 43% on his first serve and 33% on his second. He will want to get off to a fast start in the second set. He really hasn't put Tsonga under any pressure yet."
