Four years now since Rafa won the men's singles title at Wimbledon, and in the last two he has failed to make it past this second round stage, Steve Darcis the unknown assassin last time out. He's begun in unflustered fashion this afternoon, however, the forehand pummelling, the eyes glinting.

Matt McGladrigan:, external Remember camping in Wimbledon Park when Rosol beat Rafa. Such a loud roar when he fired down that ace on match point.

Nic MacLellan:, external Wouldn't mind tickets for court 2 today - looks like an awesome line up. Can't wait for Janowicz v Hewitt.

Craig Fraser:, external For Murray's sake, here's hoping Rosol can do the unthinkable and beat Nadal again!

Floaty dropper from Rosol, Nadal racing onto it, flaying a forehand back across the net - oh I say, splendid stretching volley from the Czech, dinking the ball back cross-court at the cutest of acute angles. Rosol in behind a big serve, running round the forehand, powering a winner into Nadal's unguarded backhand corner.

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

"To the last point you will ever play you are going to feel nerves. Believe me so is Rosol, trying to back up what he did two years ago."

  7. Postpublished at 13:16 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

Nadal, white bandana keeping the hair from his eyes, serves crunching and kicking - Rosol into the net with a backhand, and the second seed is into his groove.

  8. Postpublished at 13:13 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

Here's your first clue: since that splendid act of regicide, Rosol has won just two matches in Grand Slam tournaments. Here's your second: Rosol has won six matches on grass in his career, Nadal 51. But here's another: this year, both men have won exactly the same number of contests on grass. The underdog could bite again.

    Heather Watson

Heather Watson finishes a 40-minute practice session and is greeted by calls of "Good luck Heather!" as she leaves Aorangi Pavillion.

The British number one, smiling and blushing at the attention, signs a bunch of autographs, poses for a few pictures and then returns various pens to their rightful owners before heading down the tunnel to begin the final preparations for her match against Angelique Kerber later on Centre Court.

    Peter Fleming
Seven-time Grand Slam doubles champion on BBC TV

(Rosol against Nadal in 2012) "He did a lot of things but the most special thing he did, was when everyone was waiting for him to choke, 11 out of the last 12 points he won were winners."

  12. Postpublished at 13:08 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

What an evening that was, two summers ago - Centre Court roof on, a strange yellow light filling the old arena, late-night crowd going ripe bananas, the unheralded and unknown Lucas Rosol destroying double Wimbledon champion Rafa Nadal with a near faultless display of big hitting and massive serving. Can history repeat?

  13. Postpublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

Rafael Nadal strides out onto Centre Court to a hearty cheers and it is a similar scene in the BBC live text cabin as Tom Fordyce steps up to take you through the Spaniard's match against Lukas Rosol.

We are just a few minutes away from the start of play on Centre and number One Court.

The Chelsea pensioners have been afforded a nice corner in the shade on Centre. They'll be thankful of that with the sun still beating down from up top.

  18. John McEnroe Q&Apublished at 12:45 British Summer Time 26 June 2014

    BBC Radio 5 live

Rosol v Nadal: "I don't think it will be a repeat of that win but I didn't think Rosol would beat him the first time. The way Rafa plays, people ask who I would like to play like, I can't even imagine the way he plays. He reminds me of Connors because he tried harder than anyone. Rafa plays every point as if it is his last."

Should ladies play five sets? "We have this question probably every year. I don't think there are a lot of people hammering for them to play best of five. If anything they should find a way to shorten the men's matches."

John McEnroe has just been granted an extra 15 minutes on BBC Radio 5 live. He is on until 13:00 BST. Get across it right here.

"It's a family affair down at the practice courts as Andy Murray gives his grandmother a big squeeze after practice and has a natter with her and his mother Judy.

"Then his grandfather, who has been sat on a chair watching intently by the side of the court for the whole session, asks him to pose for a photo with his grandmother and brother Jamie. That'll make the mantelpiece for sure."
