Where does that rank in Wimbledon's all-time finals?

Before today's match, we at BBC Sport put together our top five men's final in a little video.

It includes a 21-year-old John McEnroe going up against Bjorn Borg in 1980 and the Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer duel in the dark in 2008.

Do we need a re-edit to include today's? Perhaps. But that debate is not getting settled any time soon.

For now let's just enjoy it for what it was.

    Bye for now.

"There's been a massive build-up to this. We've watched the draw unfold. You had two great champions and a big crowd. Sometimes they don't always deliver a great match but what you saw today was a classic head to head."

"They both played their best tennis at the same time. In most finals there is a lull but I didn't think there was today - it was just such high quality.

"I hope people understand what they were seeing today. They have seen a 32-year-old absolutely unbelievable athlete go toe to toe with a man five years younger than him and you have seen Novak go out there and take the game to Roger who has won seven titles on this surface."

Novak Djokovic climbs the stairway to the stars. Well, to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge anyway.

He shoots the breeze for a couple of minutes with William and Catherine before heading out onto the balcony to show off the silverware to the crowd who didn't have a ticket to Centre.

"Both coaches did great jobs for both players. Stefan Edberg helped Federer because he was was chipping and charging and serving and volleying and Boris helped Novak deal with the big points.

"It was a great afternoon, I can't say enough about it. Whatever happens tomorrow happens tomorrow but neither player wanted to give an inch or leave anything on that court.

"It's not just about winning another Grand Slam it's about who he beat to get there. He beat Roger Federer in the final of Wimbledon and with Roger's record here that has to make it taste a little bit better."

Neither the 2008 classic against Rafael Nadal or today's epic was as long as Roger Federer's 2009 win over Andy Roddick which stretched over five hours.

Steven Ip from Bristol, via text: The best men's Wimbledon final of all time.

Helena from London, via text: Unbelievable tennis from both. Though I'm a huge Federer fan, they both deserve to win. This is what Wimbledon is all about. Ace!

Ade, via text: I'd confidently say, at 30 years old, that if I live to be 150, there will never be another era of tennis like the last 7-10 years the men's game has produced.

"It's been a great tournament. We've seen some young stars in the ladies and the men's, so we've got some exciting times coming up in the future. As for Federer, with this one and the 2008 final with Nadal, it's no coincidence he's been part of two of the greatest matches of all time."

"The resilience of Novak Djokovic to deal with the adversity and keep the belief was amazing. It was an amazing match. From the word go they were hitting the ball so cleanly close to the lines and that set the tone for the match.

"One of the most incredible aspects was the number of winners - there were about 145 compared with just 50 unforced errors. That emphasises the quality of the match from start to finish."

What will be the picture on the front of your newspaper tomorrow morning? It may not be the one that the snappers are taking here.

At least half the story was Roger Federer's contribution to the final. I think their net-cord embrace might get the picture editor's nod.

Novak Djokovic pulled up some Centre Court grass and ate it after his win here in 2011.

He makes sure he gets his greens again this time, getting some of the hallowed blades down him before the trophy was dished out.

"I loved this match because there was more to it than just tennis. It brought in emotion, and setbacks, there were a lot of good underlying stories that they both had to contend with.

"I thought Novak would start slowly after having the disappointment of losing the fourth set but he came out to dominate. But Federer was unbelievable too, to come back after having championship points against him."

Novak Djokovic, who will return to the top of the rankings on Monday, added: "I want to dedicate this win to a few people, first of all to my future wife and our future baby. I am going to become a father soon and I am still preparing for that.

"To my family and my team for sacrificing a lot of their lives to allow me to live the dream and to my my first coach Jelena Gencic, who taught me everything about playing tennis and how to behave. Unfortunately she passed away last year but this is for her."

How much of that fifth-set resilience stemmed from Boris Becker's involvement with Novak Djokovic?

Impossible to say, but it certainly was a vastly improved performance from his straight-sets capitulation against Andy Murray last year.

Djokovic certainly has Grand Slam bragging rights over Becker. This victory takes him to seven titles, compared to the German's six.

Fulfilling expectations as number one seed means that Novak Djokovic climbs above Rafael Nadal in the world rankings.

He is back as world number one.

He also has a cheque for £1.7m to cash at the bank tomorrow. Worth getting to the front of the queue for the that one.
