Chris Kagann: Would love GB to win Davis Cup, but surely they need to limit number of games played by an individual. This is all down to Andy.

Travis: Murray is fitter than Goffin, I'm expecting this to be a physical battle that Andy comes out on top.

These are really tense moments but we saw some brilliant defence from Murray to save the break points and you get the feeling that could be crucial.

Mark that break point as a moment of importance in this first set.

Andy Murray has been pushed hard at the start of this match, but when push comes to shove, when it really matters, he had come up with the goods.

He is winning the big points.

    Saved!

Granite for guts from Andy Murray as he misses his first serve, pulls out of his second after a toot from the crowd and then hits a superb deep serve that Goffin cannot get back.

Goffin looks very relaxed and seems to be coping very well with the pressure and expectation of the crowd. He's playing some great tennis.

    Goffin 2-2 Murray*

Love-15 down, first serve missed, Andy Murray under some pressure here.

The British kingpin is let off the hook as David Goffin shanks a return out between the sidelines.

That old infruiating Murray habit, the too-delicate drop-shot, rears its head and its owner is looking at 15-30.

A ram-jammer of a serve and he is back at 30-30.

But into the top of the tape goes Murray as he drives across court!

    Break point to the Belge.

The home crowd have crossed the line a few times already with shouts and air horns during the Murray serve, but it's all part of the Davis Cup experience and unlikely to ruffle Murray's feathers too much. He enjoys having something to play with or against and said earlier this week it can give him "an extra few percent".

David Goffin does his best Andy Murray impression, finding a bit of extra spice on his serve as he motors to 40-0.

Andy Murray wins a baseline exchange to nibble back a point, but another superb serve, splashing down right on the whitewash out wide, closes out.

    Impressive. And ominous.

One of the biggest advantages in this match is Murray can hit aces on his serve; Goffin won't have many on his.

A thudding ace right down the middle skids into the backboards before David Goffin has time to twitch. That is 40-0.

Another service whopper - fresh off the grill - sears down towards Goffin, who flops back a backhand. Murray paddles away a winner and that is a quick-fire hold.

    Goffin 1-1 Murray*

David Goffin showed some serious fight there.

The Belgian hit a second serve deep and hard on game point, flirting with double-fault danger.

He scraped the ball over the wire a couple of times in the ensuing rally and held off Murray to keep hold of his serve.

This match has opened up with great quality from both men.

  14. Goffin saves break pointpublished at 12:18

    *Goffin 0-1 Murray

David Goffin finally, finally pierces Andy Murray's defence to end a mammoth rally. Murray's chasing and scurrying meant that the Belgian had to win that point about three times over.

Can he keep that up over the whole match?

Almost the perfect play from Andy Murray on the first point on the David Goffin serve.

He draws his man in with a silky drop-shot, but is a shade wide with a lob back over the top into acres of empty red dust.

The British fans are not going to let the distraction Murray had to put up with in the opening game go without revenge. Goffin's first serve is interrupted by some shuffling and murmuring.

He wobbles to 30-30. A dolly of the second serve. Murray clambers into the return and hits a clean winner into open court for 30-40 and a break point.

  18. Murray 1-0 Goffin*published at 12:12

Andy Murray pings down a tendon-wrecker of a first serve to move to 30-15.

The Belgian fans might be a factor here. Murray pulls out of second-serve ball toss on the next point and then has to put up with some mid-rally gasps and groans. Murray clumps long for 30-30.

A squeak of airhorn mid-service action on the next point. Murray pulls out and looks peeved. He resets. And hammers down an ace!

Another big serve and Murray is home and dry.

Stick that in your airhorn and smoke it.
