    Duckworth 6-7 (5-7) 1-3 Hewitt*

Nice footwork and clinical execution from Lleyton Hewitt tees up three break points. Hewitt wipes his sweating brow after thumping a weak backhand into the net. One down.

A big serve and some ferocious forehands leaves Hewitt unable to return a backhand at the baseline. Two down.

Third time lucky for Hewitt? Yes! Duckworth spanks a forehand into the net, giving Hewitt an early advantage in the second set.

"C'mon little master!" says a homemade banner held aloft by one of Hewitt's fans. So far, so good for his man.

Hewitt is making Duckworth dash across the baseline, but the younger Aussie keeps returning before the pressure eventually tells. At 40-30, Duckworth can only scoop another retrieval high, Hewitt allowing the ball to bounce before smashing down into the blue acrylic and to safety.

Anyway, after taking off my sunglasses to look at Stan, it is back to the relatively monochrome match between the two Aussies.

Holds of serve are traded in the opening two games...back on to Lleyton Hewitt's serve...

    Tursunov 2-2 Wawrinka

I've just got to move away from Duckworth v Hewitt for a moment to bring you some news from Margaret Court Arena.

Not tennis news, mind. Fashion news. And it is concerning Stan Wawrinka, who has just got under way against Russia's Dmitry Tursunov...

    Duckworth 6-7 (5-7) Hewitt

Job done! Lleyton Hewitt, to the delight of the raucous Rod Laver Arena crowd, forces James Duckworth into a rogue backhand. Hewitt responds by jumping up in the air, shouting 'Come on!' and clenching his fist at his box. I think he's happy...

Oooh! Aaah! The crowd are loving this as Hewitt hits the net chord to disrupt Duckworth's momentum. He holds both his serves to edge ahead - now where's that break...

    Duckworth 6-6 (5-4) Hewitt*

Duckworth's opening serve is replayed after a challenge - his retaken effort slapped back into the net by Hewitt.

And his second service point is also meekly returned into the tape.

    *Duckworth 6-6 (3-4) Hewitt

Thunderous roar from Hewitt, who turns to his box, pumping the air with his fist, after volleying into the corner following an intense rally for 2-4.

But the mini-break disappears as Duckworth forces Hewitt into a backhand error.

Better from Duckworth. A morale-boosting opening hold is followed up by a huge serve and volley at the net.

Pressure?! What pressure? A confident start to Hewitt's service game turns into an easy hold to love. Tie-break time...

    Duckworth 6-5 Hewitt*

Momentum swings in tennis, arguably, quicker than it does in any sport. Moments after Lleyton Hewitt was serving for the set - he's now serving to stay in it. James Duckworth puts Hewitt on the back foot with his serve, the older Aussie slapping the game-winning point into the tape.

    *Duckworth 5-5 Hewitt

It's like playing a game of spot the difference watching these two Aussies. Both are wearing white baseball caps slung back to front over their heads, both are wearing sweat-dripping red shirts. And both are wearing extremely tight blue shorts.

Anyway...James Duckworth (whose black trainers differentiate him from the blue-sneaker wearing Lleyton Hewitt) is not writing this set off just yet. The world number 129 powers his way to a break point, snaffling it with a forehand winner.

    Duckworth 4-5 Hewitt*

The full Lleyton Hewitt repertoire is already out. The veteran Aussie plucks out a lob to leave Duckworth wafting in thin air, but it isn't enough to help settle the set. Duckworth hangs on and means Hewitt now has the chance to serve out for the opener...

    *Duckworth 3-5 Hewitt

James Duckworth looks a little rattled now against the old stager. To be honest, I'm quite surprised how relaxed the 23-year-old was in the opening games. You know, because he's facing the king of Aussie tennis and all that.

Hewitt holds on to his serve and piles the pressure back on his opponent. Duckworth must hold to stay in the first set.
