    Murray 1-0 Bourgue*

First point in the bag for Murray, as Bourgue fails to return a stonking serve.

But the Frenchman gets off the mark when Murray hits just long of the baseline after a decent rally.

And the crowd cheer their home boy as he goes ahead. 15-30.

But Murray recovers, slams down his first ace, and sees out the service game.

Mike Child: Aargh. Did the ladies have to blast through their matches quite so fast? Stuck at work for Murray's match. Again.

It caught us off guard as well, Mike. Blame Garbine Muguruza for blitzing Myrtille Georges 6-2 6-0.

    Edmund v Isner - court 14

Kyle Edmund out-slogged Georgian qualifier Nikoloz Basilashvili 7-6 6-7 7-5 6-1 on Monday. He went out on a high as well, winning nine of the last 10 games.

He faces a much tougher challenge in round two: American 15th seed John Isner - all 6ft 8ins of him.

Isner has never got past the fourth round in Paris, but did make the US Open quarter-finals in 2011.

Edmund, 21, is looking to make the third round of a Grand Slam for the first time in his career.

This match will get under way following the conclusion of Jack Sock v Dustin Brown, which is now into the third set.

    Murray v Bourgue

It was a long hard slog, but Andy Murray made it through to the second round with a five-set victory over Radek Stepanek on Tuesday.

The challenge in front of him today is French wildcard Mathias Bourgue.

The 22-year-old is ranked 164th in the world and is making his Grand Slam debut in Paris.

Bourgue defeated qualifier Jordi Samper-Montana 7-5 7-6 7-6 in the first round.

"I think the scoreline is a little bit harsh on Heather Watson. She had a good first-round victory and was competitive in the second set today, so not a bad French Open.

"It'll be interesting to see now she does on the grass courts, and whether she can reproduce anything like the match she did against Serena Williams on Centre Court at Wimbledon."

    Kuznetsova 6-1 6-3 Watson

Heather Watson is still well up for this. A delicate drop shot from the Briton makes it 15-15.

But she's then punished by a wonderful backhand by Kuznetsova and the Russian has two match points.

She needs only one. Heather Watson is overpowered and Svetlana Kuznetsova wins it in two sets!

That's it for British women at the French Open this year.

Can Watson stave off Kuznetsova for the time being?

The British number two does the job. She holds her serve. Over to you, Svetlana.

"Kuznetsova is really grunting loudly now. It's awful.

"I think it's unfair for the players to have to complain. The umpires should intervene."

    Kuznetsova 6-1 5-2 Watson*

Svelena Kuznetsova gets into a heated discussion with the umpire, who thinks she's getting too much chat from her coach on the cramped sidelines. By the look on her face, she disagrees.

The Russian lets a 40-15 lead slip to deuce. The grunts of angst get louder as she hits just wide on the sidelines. Advantage Heather Watson.

Kuznetsova rescues it back to deuce the gifts another break point to Watson.

After a trip back to deuce again, following a 23-shot rally, finally the Russian holds. Watson now needs to serve to stay in the game.

    *Kuznetsova 6-1 4-2 Watson

After complaining about rain delays earlier in the week, it seems wrong to now mention this...but the sun is *so* bright on court. It must be incredibly difficult to see for both players.

    Never happy, are we?

The pair do battle on Watson's serve. At 30-30, the Briton hits into the net and Kuznetsova earns a break point.

She takes it with a precise backhand winner. That's six from seven break points won now for the Russian.

    Kuznetsova 6-1 3-2 Watson*

Heather Watson comes out fired up again, snatching the first point from Kuznetsova's serve.

But it doesn't last. The Briton hits a loose forehand wide and the Russian holds.

A few screams of frustration come from the Guernsey girl.

    *Kuznetsova 6-1 2-2 Watson

Heather Watson - decked out all in purple - looks deep in concentration as she prepares for her service game. She needs to hold onto this one.

The British number two does just that, for the first time in the match. Nicely done.

A fabulous backhand winner from Watson puts Kuznetsova under pressure at 0-30.

Watson then earns one break point, but it goes a miss.

Break point number two for Watson now. She comes off second best after an exhausting rally.

Now Kuznetsova has the advantage and she does eventually hold her serve. It wasn't easy, though.

Time to see if Heather Watson can capitalise on a blip in form from her opponent.

Not the best start, as the Briton goes 0-30 down.

Watson pulls back a point but Kuznetsova's trusty overhead volley earns her a double break.

A Watson backhand flies long and it's another break for the Russian.

    Kuznetsova 6-1 0-1 Watson*

Svetlana Kuznetsova - in a dotted pink skirt and blue t-shirt - struggles with her service game early doors.

Heather Watson has two break points following a Kuznetsova double fault.

The Russian saves the first one, but another double fault hands the first game of the second set to Watson.

Ideal for the British number two.

"When you play the very good players, especially someone who moves well on clay, you have to cut your margin for error. That's the problem against someone like Kuznetsova, you push too hard and make a mistake.

"Heather hasn't much to reproach herself for. She's getting a bit of a schooling from a very good player."
