Pablo Correno Busta was a lame duck by that final set. The Spaniard - who was troubled by a sore thigh - could not keep covering the outer reaches of the court.

Bedene did not have to be for the lines, just keep his man moving. That was enough to break down the Spaniard's game.

One more service hold and Aljaz Bedene is further into uncharted territory.

The Briton keeps strong and steady, hitting his marks out wide to keep the ball out of the reach of Pablo Correno Busta.

The Spaniard has lost all three of his previous matches that have gone to five sets.

Good news for fans of Team Murray, as Jamie and his doubles partner Bruno Soares win in straight sets against Russia's Evgeny Donskoy and Andrey Kuznetsov to reach the second round of the competition.

Tempting fate, but I think we might have just seen the match decided.

Aljaz Bedene gets his man chasing at the back of the court and suddenly Pablo Carreno Busta looks like he is feeling his dodgy thigh.

A pinging forehand into the open court brings up 15-30. The Briton takes the next for 15-40.

Two break points. Bedene converts the first as he goes hunting the lines again.

And Busta looks a little bust as he flops in vain chase of that last shot.

The Briton grits his teeth and grinds out the difficult points, coming through from a bit of danger at 30-30.

The worry for Aljaz Bedene is that Pablo Correno Busta is holding his serve with a lot more comfort than the Briton.

The Spaniard speeds through a service game to love to swing the spotlight back on Bedene.

Aljaz Bedene does enough to keep Pablo Correno Busta from the door.

There is a little bit of concern in the British camp as Correno Busta clambers into a backhand return to punish a second serve that he had seen coming for 40-30.

But some smart work - a pummeling groundstroke, confident advance and winner down the middle - seals the game for Bedene.

Pablo Correno Busta looks to be ticking over just fine in spite of his mummified left thigh.

The Spaniard's serve is feisty and he finishes the game with a fine backhand that beats Bedene via a snick on the net wire.

Argentine Facundo Bagnis must've been dreaming of an upset when he broke Rafa Nadal early on, but the king of Roland Garros is steamrollering a path into the next round now. He leads 6-3 4-0. It was good while it lasted, albeit briefly, eh Facundo?

The players are taking breaks of different kinds ahead of the deciding set.

Pablo Carreno Busta is being sorted out by a trainer - he seems to have picked up a problem with his left thigh.

It did not seem to be hindering the Spaniard too much in that fourth set, but he has had some heavy strapping wrapped around the muscle.

Aljaz Bedene is back from the loo just in time to note his opponent's troubles.

Is that the decisive shot of the game? The one that propels him over the final few yards?

Nope, Bedene gets to a drop-shot with time to spare and sends a spitting surprise forehand reply, loaded with top-spin, deep and good to set up break point at 30-40.

Correno Busta survives, just, as he scrapes around on the back of the court.

The Spaniard has more lives than a Buddhist cat as he gets out of jail on another break point, guessing right to get to what looked a certain winner from Bedene.

But he has made it - via some serve-volley shenanigans - we are into a decider.

Roll up, roll up.

Aljaz Bedene is walking the tight-rope. And the Briton has a bad attack of vertigo.

With an open invite of a mid-court bounce, he overcooks to give Correno-Busta 30-40.

An off-balance forehand hump into the net and the Spaniard will serve for the set once more.
