Aljaz Bedene's turn to grip the fist and growl some self-congratulation as he forces Pablo Carreno Busta long for 15-30.

And here come some of those tennis gremlins to unscrew the Spaniard's game. A wonky looking backhand ends in the net. 15-40 and two break-back points for Bedene.

With the insurance of a second break points, the Briton takes the initiative with a walloped forehand.

Fortune favours the brave. it is too good for Pablo Correna Busta. Parity.

We are fast-forwarding to the conclusion of this fourth set like someone playing box-set catch-up.

Aljaz Bedene holds serve in swift style with Pablo Correno Busta taking just one point in small change.

The Spaniard serves to send this one to a decider next.

Having let it slip once, Pablo Correno Busta tightens his grip on the fourth set with a statement-of-intent hold crowned with a thumper of a serve.

"Vamos!" hollers Pablo Carreno Busta, as he lamps a backhand second-serve return away for 15-40 and a look at two break points.

He only needs the one, working Bedene over with a zippy little cross-court forehand and then walloping away a winning volley from the floaty defensive response.

Bedene had parity in the set for about three minutes.

  5. Berdych is throughpublished at 12:33 British Summer Time 26 May 2016

After a brief scare in losing the second set, Belgium's Tomas Berdych is through to the next round following a 6-1 2-6 6-2 6-4 victory over Malek Jaziri.

Not many will want to cross Berdych in the next round...

"Brilliant tennis from Bedene. He was all over the back of the court, but when he had the opportunity he played a bold drop shot and it came off."

    *Bedene 7-6 (7-4) 6-3 4-6 3-3 Correno Busta

This is more like it from Aljaz Bedene. Much more like it.

A forehand crunched past Correno Busta's flaying arm brings up 0-30.

More fire funnelled down the Spaniard's backhand wing and Bedene has 0-40 and three break points.

And then what a way to seal it.

Correno Busta on a string as he is dragged left, right and finally forward by a teasing drop-shot.

That leaves acres of red dirt unguarded behind him and Bedene plonks the final shot right into the heart of it to take the break back.

Aljaz Bedene rattles through a whistle-stop service hold to love.

All great, but unless he can apply a little pressure to the Correno Busta tee-off then it is all in vain in this set.

This is already feeling like ominously like the third set.

Early advantage to Spain and and the man from Gijon never lets up.

Aljaz Bedene is teetering dangerously at 30-40 and one point away from slipping a double break down.

The Briton dons his tin hat though and battles his way though to cling onto his serve.

Given the way that Carreno Busta is playing at the moment, that might well have been curtains for the Briton in the fourth set.

He wins his first service game to love to make it eight unanswered points.

  12. 'Bedene does not seem happy with this court'published at 12:19 British Summer Time 26 May 2016

    Bedene 7-6 (7-4) 6-3 4-6 Carreno Busta

    Simon Briggs
Daily Telegraph tennis correspondent on BBC Radio 5 live sports extra

"The umpire and ground officials are inspecting the back of the court, and are looking possibly to do some running repairs.

"You find that the dust can be removed from the surface, and you get this stone underneath. Bedene keeps looking at the back of the court and he doesn't seem happy with it."

Aljaz Bedene has come off the boil entirely.

The Briton who was sizzling like a schezwan starter in the second set, is now looking flat as week-old cola.

He is broken to love as Pablo Correno Busta discovers the touch of namesake Picasso with a dab of a drop shot for the final shot of the game.

  14. Carreno Busta wins third setpublished at 12:10 British Summer Time 26 May 2016

    Bedene 7-6 (7-4) 6-3 4-6 Carreno Busta*

Aljaz Bedene briefly looks like making the final game interesting, but he cannot convert 0-15 into any serious pressure.

The Briton looked a little like he had given up the third set for lost a bit of time ago.

Whatever energy he kept back, now would be a good time to splurge it and finish this match.

    Over to you Pablo.

They are teamed, almost inevitably, with a sports blazer, a VIP enclosure lanyard and boat shoes.

Surely that is a look that doesn't get much traction at in the world capital of fashion?

Bedene holds serve to keep his hand in this set.

That is all he needs to do in this third set, with a break already tucked in his back pocket.
