These days is more and more about movement and athleticism. He will have to be able to move on a slower hard court but I'd say it should be easy inspiration to get as fit as possible.

Marcus Willis, speaking to BBC Two: "It is daunting. It is tough. I was playing alright at first, I settled into the match. I was enjoying it out there. If I was playing well and competing with Roger for a couple of sets I was doing well.

"I need to keep my head down. I am disappointed to lose. I didn't play as well as I could but I can hold my head high. I have had a fantastic couple of weeks. I will keep going and do what I have been doing. There is life after Wimbledon and I want more experiences like this.

"I have earned myself a beer now!"

Roger Federer speaking to BBC Two: "It was very different. Marcus brought some unbelievable energy to the court with his play, the fans and his enthusiasm as well.

"I always knew this would be a completely different match to what I've played before. I remember when I walked out for the first time here against Pete Sampras in 2001, I was so nervous.

"My mindset going was I was playing a guy ranked in the top 5o because that is how he was playing. I hope he can rise up the rankings now. It was a pleasure for me to play against him."

Willis is a talented player, he's got a bit of money now and it will be interesting to see what he does from here.

If he could get himself a bit fitter he could get on the circuit. But the circuit is tough, it's not the Centre Court at Wimbledon.

Maybe he can get some sponsorship or something to keep him going, and good luck to him.

Roger Federer is going for title number eight. Nobody has done that.

Are there a few tears there? And why not, as Centre Court rises to a man who two days ago was a nothing but a stranger. And a hug between mama and papa in the VIP slots. Who's got the tissues?

Federer to the net as if on oiled castors - nope, clunks a simple volley into the net's embrace. Willis chasing, fetching, desperately reaching.. Fed there beyond the tape to put his best away, and match point it is. Backhand off his toes, the ball looking long - it's not sitting down, it's not sitting down...

And that is what great players do. Federer tears into the Willis serve - 0-30, 0-40, thank you very much. Willis must break the seven-time Wimbledon champion to write another line or two in his SW19 fairytale.
