I would question the miles Roger has had in his legs at the start to this year.

He has had a disjointed start to the season and deep in the fifth set, that could have an impact.

Berdych can decide this match. He is a really impressive ball striker, he hits it flat and drives the ball through the court.

Marin Cilic does what Marin Cilic does.

A boshing inside-out forehand streaks away for a winner and 30-15, before two dolloped serves prove too much for Federer to digest on return.

Oh Roger, with that drop-shot you are really spoiling us.

Forty-love up, tennis's global ambassador slides in a drop-shot as delicate as a humming bird's cheek bone.

Cilic doesn't bother running for that one and starts strolling to his stool.

Lil Suzy: Feel so bad for Cilic though. The whole crowd are behind Fed & fair enough we all love him but Cilic is playing amazingly well

Jiten Chandarana: Tim Henman called it before the match, Federer in five sets...

Ian Bradley: Federer knows his chances in majors are running out, refusing to go gentle into that good night, true champion

Sorry to interrupt the Federer-Cilic love-in, but the third quarter-final of the day between Tomas Berdych and Lucas Pouille is underway.

Marin Cilic's serve is a long-slung, compact little action. The ball toss is short and sweet as his forearm whips round and clumps it out of the air.

It is not textbook, but it is harder to read than Gravity's Rainbow.

Federer is struggling to get a handle on it and loses the game to 15 as another serve scuds by.

It's a long time in this match since we could say Federer was in the lead.

Now the pressure is right on Marin Cilic at the start of the fifth.

LoveOfFootball: The mind is the greatest asset in any sport Cilic unravelling here. Doesn't look like the player in the first two sets

Jonathan Hextall: We all shouted loud enough to wake the #federer, external backhand up!

Alex Hamworth: That's it Marin, don't choke please.

MGE: I think Roger will snap victory from the jaws of defeat...

Roger Federer is immediately bunkered down on serve.

Marin Cilic is throwing the kitchen sink, half the white goods, the spice rack and the scrubbing brush at his groundstrokes.

But the Swiss holds up strong to turn him away. Different set, same story so far.

    Querrey 4-6 5-7 7-5 4-6 Raonic

Milos Raonic on reaching his second Wimbledon semi-final to BBC Sport's Garry Richardson: "There were some momentum shifts, I didn't face a break point all the way until the end of the third set. I am glad I was able to get back on my right path and get the win.

"It's something that's been able to help me out this week. With my previous round, changing things round and get things back on my terms. It's a well deserved win for me.

"It's exciting and also humbling at the same time. you have to go out there and give it all I've got and hope a better result than last time (2014 defeat by Roger Federer)."

And what difference has new coach John McEnroe made?

"He's added a little bit of demeanour change on the court, be more positive and get more out of myself so I don't disappear for too long during the match. I volleyed great today and he's definitely helped me with that."

Even as a neutral you have got to want a little more of this. Nerve-shredding, spine-tingling stuff from the very top drawer of the tennis cupboard.
