Centre Court maybe a fifth full, the corridors out the back a mess of snaking queues for the ladies, the stairwells jammed with panting men trying not to drop plastic pots of Pimm's as they labour back up two steps at a time. Hold to 15, all the atmosphere of a boys' singles on Court 14.

    Pouille 6-6 Berdych

There's some proper noisy so-and-sos on Court One who are stood up and trying to get the crowd clapping into a frenzy - Icelandic football style.

They seem to be having a ball during the water break.

On the grass, Tomas Berdych has held his serve to take the first set to a tie-break.

    Tsonga v Murray

I think Murray is just too solid for Tsonga. And the 19-17 fifth set Tsonga had against Isner, although he almost had a day off, may be too straining.

A strong service game from 10th seed Tomas Berdych brings us level again on Court One.

The winner will face Andy Murray or Jo Wilfried-Tsonga. Not a bad prize, that.

  9. How tough will it be against Raonic?published at 16:46 British Summer Time 6 July 2016

More from Roger Federer: "Right now, standing here, it will be very tough. But I have got the rest of today and tomorrow to recover.

"He has had a wonderful year and is improving every day that goes by so I am excited to be playing against him."

And so Andy Murray and Jo-Wilfried Tsonga come out to an almost entirely deserted Centre Court. You can't blame the punters - they're in bits after that five-set doozie. A breath of fresh air, a refill of the beverages, a call of nature and they'll return.

    With difficulty.

Or with the best of British - Andy Murray - against the second-best of French - Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

For Berdych, it's a great opportunity to start his season, he's not had a particularly good year. A chance to reach the semi-finals of Wimbledon and, who knows, beyond that.

    Pouille 4-3 Berdych*

We're nip and tuck in the early stages of quarter-final three on Court One, where 10th seed Tomas Berdych and Frenchman Lucas Pouille have broken each other's serve.

The pair have already smacked down a combined seven aces as well. Ping.

Roger Federer speaking to BBC TV: "A lot happened out there. It was nice to play in these conditions and against Marin. He is such a wonderful player and I knew I was in so much trouble in the third set and in the fourth.

"It was was great fun, Marin is one of the nicest guys on the tour so I feel sorry for him but for me the dream continues. I played super great at the end so I am very, very, pleased.

"You hope (can still win at 2-0 down) but you don't know. I wasn't seeing his serves, he had one chance and took it and then I was down 2-0. He was playing very well and reading my serve and I couldn't read his.

"It wasn't going well for me so I just tried to stay in the match and hope for his level to drop and get a bit lucky and that is happened and obviously the breaker was crazy.

"I think the last three sets I played really good. It is really encouraging to see I was improving and I was able to sustain a really high level.

"My legs and back were there and serving was key plus mentally this will give me a hell of a boost. I am really ecstatic I was able to make it into the next round."

You have to feel bad for Marin Cilic, he has played the game of his life and had three match points on the Centre Court against Roger Federer.

It was all there for Cilic to win. He had the chances in the third set, the chance to deliver the knockout punch and he couldn't do it.

We talk so much about Roger Federer's racquet skills, but how about his nerves? That is what won it for him today.

Incredible. When you thought Roger Federer was down and out, he just played amazing tennis. He is not the greatest of all time for no reason. Just incredible from Roger Federer.
