Nobody talks about Murray's volleys, but he's got great volleys, good hands, and great net instincts.

The previous game Berdych held on, so it's even. Tomas had some chances. This is such an important moment in the match, it could decide the match.

It takes over eight minutes for Andy Murray to hold serve. No wonder he's talking to himself.

Tomas Berdych has failed to see off two break points, and now Murray has the advantage after several trips to deuce town.

Murray finally ends the wait with an ace. Phew.

  5. 'Murray getting frustrated'published at 18:05 British Summer Time 8 July 2016

    Murray 6-3 2-3 Berdych

    Mary Pierce
Former French Open champion on BBC Radio 5 live

Andy is talking a lot more to himself today than he has in his other matches. He's getting more frustrated than he has.

He's got to stay focused and stay in the moment.

"There's no more room on the hill!" shriek the row of security guards lined up at the bottom of Murray Mound.

Not a patch of grass is spare for any late comers to park in the SW19 sun and watch the Murray match.

Instead they're being directed to Court Two which is also showing the action on the big screen.

  7. Murray on the sprintpublished at 18:00 British Summer Time 8 July 2016

Maybe he should give the 100 metres a go in the Rio Olympics. Andy Murray shows great athleticism to win this point.

  9. Berdych staves off two break pointspublished at 17:56 British Summer Time 8 July 2016

    *Murray 6-3 2-3 Berdych

Murray has another break point after taking the advantage, but a drifting forehand goes beyond the baseline. Back to deuce.

Berdych gets his legs in a tangle and backhands into the net. Another break point to Murray, but it's saved by a Berdych ace.

Another boomer - this time at 132mph - gives the Czech the advantage and he taps over at the net to eventually hold.

He made a meal of it, but Berdych escapes the break point doom for now.

An ace followed by a forehand winner sees Tomas Berdych finally make some in-roads on the brick wall that is Andy Murray at his defensive best.

The Czech moves to 40-0, but he slaps a backhand into the net and isn't quick enough to get on the end of a Murray drop shot.

And then another wild forehand from the tenth seed. He's leaking points here. Deuce.

  12. 'Murray just incredible'published at 17:51 British Summer Time 8 July 2016

    Murray 6-3 2-2 Berdych

    Mary Pierce

Andy Murray is just incredible. He has such amazing footwork and speed on the court.

Not only is he an attacking, aggressive player, he can move and defend - so fast.

Sometimes Tomas isn't coming in on the right shot or choosing the right shot selection, and when he does he hits it to the wrong side.

  13. Worst miss of the Championships?published at 17:50

How did he miss that?! Berdych has all the time in the world and nearly a whole side of the court to aim for, but his overhead smash goes wide.

    Ohhh, yes!

Andy Murray sprints net-bound to get on the end of a Berdych volley and sends it straight down the line. What a beauty.

The Scot holds to love, as the early evening sun falls over Centre Court.

  15. Murray's decisive break in first setpublished at 17:46 British Summer Time 8 July 2016

The third break in the match and the most important one so far. As Berdych's forehand goes out of bounds, Murray takes the upper-hand in this match as he goes on to win the first set in the following game.

    *Murray 6-3 1-2 Berdych

    Lleyton Hewitt
Former Wimbledon champion on BBC TV

Quite often we talk about Andy Murray's second serve, but he hasn't been hurt by the second serve because he's hitting big sliders into the body and the big Czech hasn't been able to get out of the way.

Berdych seems to have taken on my advice in the previous post (ahem).

He takes his time to get on the end of a high Andy Murray shot and successfully slams it over.

The Czech moves to 40-0 and, although a forehand goes awry, he goes on to take the game.

  18. 'It's coming back with interest'published at 17:43 British Summer Time 8 July 2016

    Murray 6-3 1-1 Berdych

    Richard Krajicek
On Radio 5 live at Wimbledon

Murray keeps it coming back with interest.

The quicker you hit the ball, the quicker he gets behind it and it comes back with an angle.

Sometimes you don't know what to do against him.

A word in Tomas Berdych's ear: if you're going to smash home over the net, make sure you're not off-balance when you do it.

The Czech reaches for the overhead winner but has a bit of a wobble and sticks it well wide. It was not pretty.

Murray goes on to hold with relative ease.

    *Murray 6-3 0-1 Berdych

Tomas Berdych is only on 50% on his first serve count (see below), but he makes sure he knocks over a clean one early doors in the second set.

A powerful backhand then takes the Czech to 40-0 and he holds with a delicate forehand.
