    Djokovic 7-6 1-1 Wawrinka*

A second double fault of the match for Novak Djokovic puts him 15-30 down. He looks relaxed as he gets ready to serve again but there's some hope here for Stan Wawrinka, can he just get through with the door ajar?

The world number three is sent chasing across the baseline though and his high lob back is smashed home with gusto from Djokovic. That was a picture-book smash. Sublime technique, right in the corner, swerving away.

A rally breaks out at 40-30 and Novak makes himself hard to beat, solid strokes ask questions, Wawrinka tries to change the debate to put his man on the back foot but in doing so fires wide. Game Djokovic.

    *Djokovic 7-6 0-1 Wawrinka

Are you guys going a little Stan Wawrinka and sporting hot raspberry pyjamas?

His play isn't as hot that's for sure as a tame forehand finds the net. A critical game you feel, he needs some momentum and to not be playing catch up again.

A nice skip on the serve forces Djokovic to go long but what Wawrinka comes back with is erratic from the baseline and we reach 30-30. That's another two unforced errors for the Swiss which have gifted points in this game.

A rally gets very strategic as Wawrinka looks to move his man wide with some creative angles. A backhand across court takes Novak way past the tramlines and he has a lot of court to sprint over and Stan fires the next shot up the tramlines. Such is Novak's desperation he throws his racket away in lunging for the ball. Lovely stuff from Wawrinka and he closes out the game to 30.

The US Open final is where the A-list celebs hangout and we currently have Marty McFly and the guy who made American Beauty the compelling movie it was looking on.

Michael J Fox and Kevin Spacey have gone for some old school head wear. We'll leave you make your minds up on whether it's a good look.

Also in the stands are Hilary Swank and American singer Tony Bennett but neither are wearing eye-catching hats so they aren't going to appear on this live text feed. Anyway, I shall pass you over to Luke Reddy for the second set.

Wawrinka has 20 unforced errors, Novak just 10. That's huge. Is he getting nervous? Is he tight at key moments?

At least his fight back can give him some belief.

The bottom line is Novak got the crowd back with him. The crowd is chanting for him. He has a section here. If he can get them revved up it will be like the crowd is with him.

    Djokovic 7-6 (7-1) Wawrinka

Wawrinka was brilliant at times during that tie-break, but Djokovic was just better and the Swiss runs out of steam and ideas. He goes long again and the first set belongs to the defending champion.

Wawrinka could be toast in this tie-breaker. He loses a point on his own serve. He bows his head, shoulders are slightly slumped...

A simpler point. Wawrinka botching his return. Djokovic nipping further ahead.

    Djokovic 6-6 (3-1) Wawrinka

Another super-duper rally... Wawrinka with a mid-court forehand half-volley which looks like a winner but Djokovic passes him down the line. The Serb raises his arms, the crowd roar. A fabulous tie-break.

Oh my word! What a point! What a final! The pair slug it out from the baseline until Wawrinka comes towards the tape, looks to have beaten Djokovic with a delicate volley - but he needs more than one brilliant shot to get the better of the Serb. The pair fetch and retrieve near the net before Wawrinka sends Djokovic backwards - and eventually beats him with a cute volley. Bravo.

You'd have had long odds on a tie break when Wawrinka was 5-2 down and two set points down.

    *Djokovic 6-6 Wawrinka

Wawrinka forced wide on the first point and fires a forehand into the tramlines. Groans by those rooting for the Swiss. Brutal hitting on the next point, Djokovic using brawn and now enough brain as Wawrinka leaves an opening with an imperfect overhead but the Serb swings wild and wide, allowing Wawrinka to level at 15-15. It's ultimately an easy-peasy hold.

Entertainment on and off the court - a gentleman in the crowd catches the ball and stands up to bask in the limelight.

If Wawrinka is to win this set he will have to do so in a tie-break. Djokovic untroubled on his serve, holding to love, stopping the rot.

Wawrinka strutting, chest now puffed out. He believes. The Swiss more aggressive, adding variety to his play. Djokovic can no longer hit the returns with alacrity. Wawrinka holds to 15. All square and there's no way of knowing which way the pendulum will swing next.

Experience helps you so much and Novak has a tonne of it. He's definitely not as confident I don't think as in the past so that's a factor. He has the experience but maybe not the confidence. In that last game Stan started playing more aggressive. We just saw a couple of mistakes from Novak and now we have the match on serve.
