    Murray 5-7 7-5 2-6 1-2 Zverev*

Murray's serve isn't going his way and Zverev proves it with a simple swat.

It's still a proper contest, Zverev finding the net too often, but a double fault takes it to 30-40 and Murray is fuming with himself. Lendl takes a sip of water, pondering, before Zverev overhits and Murray holds.

    *Evans 7-6 (7-4) Tsonga

The dream that refuses to die.

Evans has Tsonga scampering and he can only pop one up high that Evans dispatches with the confidence of man who has played in last-16 matches his whole career.

That's four from four for tie-breaks at this tournament for Evans.

Relentless pressure from Evans. He wants to go after the ball, even at pressure-points. Brave tennis.

  6. Tie-breakpublished at 06:46 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2017

    Evans 6-6 (5-3) Tsonga*

Evans has found a little more hot sauce on his serve and this one out wide is too spicy for the Frenchman.

The next one is an absolute ace down the middle. Tsonga challenges - he's wrong, wrong, wrong.

    *Murray 5-7 7-5 2-6 0-2 Zverev

Half the court is covered in shade now and Murray hits into it with an almighty backhand winner.

Zverev claws it back onto his terms though, Murray twice hitting the serve into the net. Murray sticks at it, meeting a cheeky shot from the net with a powerful forehand of his own.

Not enough though, as he can't return Zverev's serve. He will hold, and there's a grunt of annoyance from the world number one.

  8. Tie-breakpublished at 06:43 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2017

    Evans 6-6 (3-1) Tsonga*

First mini-break as Tsonga goes long and first emphatic fist pump from the Briton.

  9. Tie-breakpublished at 06:42 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2017

    Evans 6-6 (2-1) Tsonga*

Tsonga steps in and cuts off a decent-looking pass attempt from Evans for the first point on serve.

Evans then rattles off both of his service points. Lovely stuff.

  10. 'Murray is rattled'published at 06:40 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2017

    Murray 5-7 7-5 2-6 0-1 Zverev*

    Russell Fuller
BBC tennis correspondent on Radio 5 live sports extra

Zverev is playing an extraordinary match, some of his returns have been mind-bogglingly good. I don’t think Murray played a bad match until the second half of that third set. He’s behind to a man playing the tennis of his life. Murray is rattled.

  11. Tie-breakpublished at 06:40 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2017

    Evans 6-6 Tsonga*

Evans' decision making is bang-on point.

He let's one coming out of the sky bounce before unleashing a smash and then there's an impeccably judged leave down the line.

    Tie-break is on.

  12. Zverev breaks Murraypublished at 06:40 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2017

    Murray 5-7 7-5 2-6 0-1 Zverev*

Down the line goes the German to a rally that Murray looks set to have won - and it lands in! Advantage Zverev.

Murray has Zverev on the run, he looks like he's in control but Murray doesn't hit his forehand hard enough and it's into the net! He's broken him!

    Murray 5-7 7-5 2-6 Zverev*

"Come on!" roars Murray as he comes off the better of a tussle, Zverev's backhand drifting into the net.

He comes forward as Zverev goes short, and then there's another long rally, swaying either way before Zverev comes off the worst from a drop shot. A proper shovel from Zverev brings it to 40-30.

Again, Murray is sprawling. Again, Zverev meets it at the net. Again, it's deuce...

    *Evans 5-6 Tsonga

Once again, Evans is going to need a serve of steel as Tsonga comfortably holds again.

Can the Briton take this to a tie-break?

    Evans 5-5 Tsonga*

Evans really doesn't give a fig about pressure or context right now.

15-30 serving to stay in the set - no bother as he recovers perfectly to keep it on serve.

Anton: I picked the perfect fortnight for insomnia / late-night working. Lovinh your wee-hours commentaries of our Brits in action

Paul: Murray is looking extremely shaky here. If he's going to win it's going to need five sets, and Federer/Nishikori won't mind that one bit.

Joshua: Here is another shock! Andy looks all set to bow out of the Australian Open! Playing way too passive.

  17. 'Zverev's playing Andy off the court'published at 06:33 Greenwich Mean Time 22 January 2017

John-Laffnie de Jager, Heather Watson’s coach, on 5 live sports extra: “The difference right now is Mischa is clear in what he wants to do, and Andy isn’t. It’s incredible play from Mischa – I thought he might get a little bit tight but he’s playing Andy off the court at the net.”

    *Murray 5-7 7-5 2-6 Zverev

Zverev's box are admirably stony faced about the whole situation, brother Alex sat with his arms crossed and a studious look at his brother. Murray turned to box countless times in that last game, his head shaking about. This'll be interesting...

    *Murray 5-7 7-5 2-6 Zverev

That backhand volley from Zverev. When it works, boy, does it work.

Murray hits the net twice and it's three set points to Zverev. That backhand doesn't work so well this time, getting Murray on the board, but it does that time! He will take the third set.

    *Evans 4-5 Tsonga

Evans has his first love hold - he still has to work for it though, covering every blade of erm... Plexicushion.

Tsonga holds and now Evans must serve to stay in the set.
