Join us in the morning for further coverage from down under.

We'll be having an early start, so I'm going to sip a camomile tea, stick my Rafa Nadal pajamas on and curl up for a much needed nap.

    G'day.

The line-up for the women's quarters has also taken shape.

Tomorrow, Venus Williams goes toe to toe with Russian 24th seed Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova to open up on Rod Laver.

That's followed by Coco Vandeweghe - the only non-seed remaining - against seventh seed Garbine Muguruza.

And then on Wednesday, it's the big one for British tennis as Johanna Konta faces the queen of tennis Serena Williams.

The winner will set up a semi-final against Karolina Pliskova or Mirjana Lucic-Baroni.

And then, at around 08:00 GMT, Roger Federer takes on Andy Murray's vanquisher Mischa Zverev.

The winners will meet in the semi-finals.

So that's a 30th Grand Slam quarter-final booked for Rafael Nadal, but his first since the French Open in 2015.

And what odds on a first grand Slam title in three years for the Spaniard?

Let's take a look at how the men's draw lines up for the last eight.

Jim Courier asks Rafa Nadal about having his girlfriend Xisca Perello with him at the Australian Open for the first time.

"I think it was a negative thing to lose in the quarters in Brisbane but we got to visit Sydney – we enjoyed it.

"After years, finally my girlfriend gets a wildcard to come here."

Just a wildcard for your girlfriend? Not in the main draw? Inquires Jim Courier.

"It's better we stop here," quips Rafa.

  6. 'I'm a little bit tired'published at 12:59 Greenwich Mean Time 23 January 2017

After five sets against Alexander Zverev and four sets today, how are the legs feeling Rafa?

"Now I feel a little bit tired. But probably tomorrow a bit better and hopefully after tomorrow perfect.

"Against Milos Raonic I just need to play very, very well. He is the third player in the world, he beat me a couple of weeks ago in Brisbane and is a top player with an amazing serve."

  7. 'To be in a quarter is very special'published at 12:54 Greenwich Mean Time 23 January 2017

Rafa Nadal speaking to Jim Courier on court.

"Gael is a special player. He can play unbelievable shots and is one of the more charismatic players. Seeing him in the top ranking places is great for the sport.

"I had chances in the third and didn’t take them so it's dangerous. He had some huge serves and you are under problems against a big player like him.

"Coming back I know I keep having some chances and then at 5-4 with his serve under pressure I had my chances.

"To be in a quarter-final at a Grand Slam is very special for me, especially here in Australia where it feels a little bit like home."

Monfils, at 15-0, is not happy with his racquet - so he trundles over to his chair and picks up another one.

Rafa has awoken from his slumber. This is a world away from what as happening 15 minutes ago.

A chaotic forehand from Monfils hands Nadal the game.

    Tennis, eh?

It's 11:30pm in Melbourne, so if you're on Rod Laver and you're using public transport, it's decision time - taxi? Walk? Or leave early?

The last option is not recommended, as Nadal is back on track.

An umpire overrule gives Nadal a crucial break point... and he snaffles it up with a sweeping forehand winner.

Nadal needs something and maybe this running forehand from well out wide, down the side of the net post, will spark him into life.

It's a more comfortable hold. Can the Spaniard be reinvigorated?
