Commentator Peter Odgers on BBC coverage: What character from Heather Watson. Britain prevail in that epic game. And now she is just a game away from taking this rubber to a deciding set.

    Watson 4-6 5-4 Begu*

And she's done it. Great character from Watson who takes that epic game.

This second set has hit the hour mark, and GB are ahead 5-4.

    Watson 4-6 4-4 Begu

And just like that, Watson pulls an ace out of the bag.

She has Begu on the back foot but the Romanian's defence is too good.

Begu spins her racket this time, instead of throwing it, and she's shouting to the crowd.

This is a mammoth game at such a significant point. Whoever wins this one could well take the set.

Watson's turn now to close out the game...

    Watson 4-6 4-4 Begu

Watson, under such pressure, moves her feet well up the court and takes the backhand early.

But she can't back it up. Begu's forehand is too strong for a stretching Watson and back we go again.

But Begu brings up her second break point of the game...

    Watson 4-6 4-4 Begu

    That's lucky.

On break point, the net goes against Begu.

Her cross-court forehand clips the top of the net and bounces out.

And she's getting frustrated out there. She sends her racket hurtling to the ground but the aggression seems to work for her.

She hits an unbelievable winner with a lovely flick down the line to save the game.

Back to deuce - another long game here.

    Watson 4-6 4-4 Begu

Not a good start to the service game for Watson, who's down 30-0.

But she finds a good winner before Begu's cross-court forehand is called out, despite the Romanian having a good old stare at it, and we're back to 30-30.

    Watson* 4-6 4-4 Begu

Watson has a break point of her own but the spin on Begu's drop shot makes it impossible for Watson to find a return.

But a wonderful lob from the Brit brings up a second break point of the game - and she takes it.

She moves forward at just the right time to take the ball on the volley. And a big reaction from the Brit.

There has been plenty of interest in the press conference room as well as on the court in the last 45 minutes.

Johanna Konta, who was beaten by Simona Halep in two sets this morning, has just given the BBC her response to Sorana Cirstea's suggestion that she exaggerated her tears in yesterday's match between the two.

"With all due respect to Sorana she was not in my shoes on that end of the court being verbally threatened. Any abuse is not all right, but when it's a couple of metres away from you, screaming at you, I think that's a different ball game.

"It's not something that you truly know how it affects you until you experience it so I do believe she may have been slightly unaware of the events."

It was superb hands from Begu to finish off the final point with a precise lob.

Heather Watson can get within herself in the clutch points. She has to stay agressive on return in the next game. She cannot let Begu run away with the next game.

    Watson 4-6 3-4 Begu*

    What a rally.

Watson goes on the attack and hits a deft volley at the net but Begu just guides her lob over Watson's head to take the first break of the set.

The umpire is back on the court here as Watson airs her grievances with the crowd. They're getting slightly raucous during the points.

    Watson 4-6 3-3 Begu

This has been a long game.

We're stuck on deuce as Watson tries to hold her serve.

And Begu gets just the slice of luck she needed there. Her shot hits the outside of the line which throws Watson off balance and the Romanian just guides a winner into the back court.

    Break point for Begu.

    Watson* 4-6 3-3 Begu

Good work from Begu who built that point up well, before taking it with a forehand down the line.

Another service game goes with serve. Not a single break so far in the second set.

    Watson 4-6 3-2 Begu

A great read from Watson. She makes a forehand drop shot look easy and Begu doesn't have the pace to get there.

Watson needs to win this set, and the match, to keep GB in this tie.

And she's back in front in this second set. Good fight from the Brit.

    Watson 4-6 2-2 Begu

A short pause while there is an in-depth discussion (read argument) between the chair umpire and Begu.

Begu's return looked long, and that was the call, but she's disputing it.

An inspection of the line, followed by some strong words to the Romanian camp, and the point is rightly awarded to GB.

    Watson* 4-6 2-2 Begu

That was one of the best periods of the match.

Watson does brilliantly to save the point as her lob just lands inside the lines, but Begu comes up with a fierce forehand to hold.

    2-2 in the second set.

And the chair umpire is having a word with the crowd. He's asking them to contain their excitement, specifically during the points.

    Watson 4-6 2-1 Begu

Relentless power from the back of the court pins Watson behind the baseline and she's eventually played out of the point.

But the Brit earns her second break point of the game with some controlled aggression as she neatly puts away the high ball.

Begu recovers though - Watson has only taken two of eight break points - and the Romanian has a chance to wrap up this game.

    Watson 4-6 2-1 Begu

Watson is refusing to go away.

The Romanian is having a torrid time with her serve at the moment and a clean return from the Brit brings up the break point.

    Watson 4-6 2-1 Begu

An aggressive start from Watson - she's really attacking Begu's second serve.

But she pulls the next shot wide as she tries to control the point.

And Begu now has the Brit on the back-foot. The Romanian's first-serve is good and she charges up the court to take the point with an easy forehand. That's 14 from 18 points won on her first serve.

But a fourth double fault of the game hands Watson a lifeline.
