    Konta 1-4 Halep

Change of ends and Halep's strong forehand continues.

And she's winning the battle of the big hits at the moment as Konta eventually sends a weak forehand into the net.

The Brit opts for another drop-shot but Halep is right onto it and smashes a backhand down the line. She's so accurate with her aggressive shots.

Konta eventually shows some firepower though as she takes the game to 30-30.

It's cool and overcast, and there's the threat of rain and hail later, which could yet force this tie into a third day if a deciding doubles rubber is required.

Monica Niculescu is once again sitting in the captain's chair for Romania, and there was a huge roar from a not yet capacity crowd to greet that early break of serve for Halep.

    Konta 0-3 Halep

It appears that some members of the crowd have brought their tissues with them. And they're waving them at Johanna Konta.

Let's hope they're not a distraction for the Brit. She needs to focus here.

She's won a point on the Romanian's serve but she's struggling against Halep's serve...

Konta needs to find something quickly.

Johanna Konta hasn't quite found her range yet this morning.

And she's already having trouble with the crowd.

Halep backs up her break with a love service game and she leads Konta by two games.

Ilie Nastase - a former world number one - had also caused controversy in the build-up to the tie after being heard making a derogatory comment about Serena Williams' unborn child.

He will not return to the venue today, but the tennis must go on.

And Illie Nastase was not stopping there.

As he was escorted from the venue, he then turned his frustrations to journalist Eleanor Crooks.

Press Association Sport reported that their tennis correspondent Crooks was also subject to Nastase's remarks before play started on Saturday.

PA have sent details to the International Tennis Federation.

    But that's not quite everything.

Following the conclusion of the second singles rubber, Sorana Cirstea claimed Konta had "overreacted".

"Someone crying cannot stop a match," she told BBC Sport.

"Why did we stop? Only because Johanna cried? I have never cried on the court because someone told me something. You have to toughen up."
