Well that was not the start to the day British fans were after.

We're going to have a little break here and return in a couple of hours when Andy Murray and Kyle Edmund will be in action.

Murray will be on Chatrier after the conclusion of Zverev v Verdasco which is restarting now with the score 4-6 6-3.

You'll be in the very capable hands of Jonathan Jurejko when we return. Hopefully he can bring some better luck for the British players.

Keep across the latest scores here.

Her clay-court record might be modest but that is still a huge disappointment for Konta, who looked capable of making some progress in the first week here at least.

Her usually unflappable demeanour began to fray around the edges in the latter stages and that last game pretty much summed up her day.

Hsieh's variety and unorthodox style made her a deserved winner, while Konta must now contemplate grass courts considerably earlier than she would have hoped.

Konta is the seventh seed, and yes she doesn't have many wins on clay, but the way that match got away from her will haunt her for a little while.

I would point to the 11th game of the second set as a crucial moment. At 6-1 5-5 Konta had 0-40 on the Hsieh serve. The Briton couldn't capitalise however and from there her opponent just got stronger.

Konta made a few mistakes in the third set and they came because she didn't trust her movement on the clay.

She is still striking the ball well and, with her demeanour and attitude, she will get better on the clay.

This defeat won't have an adverse effect on her grass-court season. It is completely different.

    Konta 6-1 6-7 (2-7) 4-6 Hsieh

Just where did that go wrong for Johanna Konta?

She flew through the first set in just 23 minutes and was well and truly on top.

But, slowly and surely with a mix of slices, drop shots and scampering Chinese Taipei's Hsieh chipped away at Konta and held strong.

Hsieh played the perfect tie-break to win the second set and under pressure from Konta served out to win the match in the decider.

What a match. And what a good effort from Su-wei Hsieh to come back after losing the first set so easily.

Konta came out at the start and played very well, she was trying to do the right things but I think you have to give credit to Hsieh.

I don't think Konta played that bad, Hsieh just lifted her level and brought in more variety.
