Big Jiri Vesely is looking a little weary out there at the moment. He is still capable of some big hits but perhaps not as willing to get into lengthy rallies with Bedene. The Briton fights off a little comeback to hold.

    Vesely 6-3 6-3 4-6 1-0 Bedene*

The British number three is a little unlucky as, after working himself into a break point position, he clips the top of the net with a groundstroke and it sits up nicely for Vesely to pummel away.

Bedene has two more chances to break but the Czech player seals the game with three aces in a row.

A missed opportunity for Bedene. Hopefully that doesn't come back to haunt him.

    Vesely 6-3 6-3 3-4 Bedene*

    Vesely 6-3 6-3 3-3 Bedene*

Poor, very poor shot from Jiri Vesely to bring it to 30-30 on his serve. This is as close to a break chance as Aljaz Bedene has had.

    Second serve too. Long!

    Break point...

    *Vesely 6-3 6-3 3-2 Bedene

Still with serve in the third set then. Jiri Vesely has not been broken once all night, and therein lies the problem for Aljaz Bedene.

It's looking like two rounds and out for the British number three, plus a tasty-sounding press conference too.

He has not played well today, it has not been a classic match by a long stretch.

    Vesely 6-3 6-3 3-2 Bedene*

Aljaz Bedene knows he has to go for it and force a break point from somewhere, Jiri Vesely can play safely and just chip or slice the ball back. It works for him too as Bedene has to go the whole hog and can only drive it out of play at the back of the court.

That sets up Vesely for another comfortable hold.

    *Vesely 6-3 6-3 2-2 Bedene

And Bedene holds on. Two apiece.

    *Vesely 6-3 6-3 2-1 Bedene

Vesely passes up the chance to really pressure the Bedene serve when, at 15-30, he miscues a shot into the net. Bedene then plays possibly his shot of the match to carve an unlikely angle across the net and bring up game point.

    Vesely 6-3 6-3 2-1 Bedene*

Aljaz Bedene has not won a break point all match - and he doesn't get a look at one this game. Another fine serve brings up another hold for Jiri Vesely.

  19. Postpublished at 18:39 British Summer Time 31 May 2017

    Vesely 6-3 6-3 1-1 Bedene*

Well played Bedene, who gets on the board in the third set with a punched shot down the line. Now can he pressure that booming Vesely serve? Easier said than done.

  20. Postpublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 31 May 2017

    *Vesely 6-3 6-3 1-0 Bedene

Jiri Vesely clicking through the gearbox now, holding that serve comfortably in the end, and if he breaks Aljaz Bedene here then the end really will be nigh.

The British number three sails 30-0 up though...
