Ramos-Vinolas 4-3 Djokovic*
Albert Ramos-Vinolas to serve. Would be a big hold this.
He's gifted the first point by a rough shot from Novak Djokovic, but then chips into the net after losing his balance.

But the identity of their opponent appears to be becoming clearer.
Dominic Thiem, the Austrian eighth seed, is two sets to the good against Horacio Zeballos.
And he has already broken the Argentine's serve in the third...

There's no Andre Agassi in the box to inspire Novak Djokovic, his new coach is in Germany today by all accounts. A holiday.
His pupil/client will be a long way from worried but he should be concerned. He went to five sets against unseeded Argentine Diego Schwartzman on Friday and is behind here.
He does hold his serve this time though, to love as well.
Ramos-Vinolas 4-2 Djokovic*
Novak Djokovic is just not at it yet. Almost an apologetic backhand drifts wide as ARV smashes a comeback from 0-30 down to win the game.

Albert Ramos-Vinolas now serving then with the chance to take a grip on this first set. Not like that though as he goes 0-30 down...

11 unforced errors, six winners so far for Novak Djokovic.
*Ramos-Vinolas 3-2 Djokovic
Another break point for Novak Djokovic to defend, and this time he is well out on his forehand!
"That's just awful," mutters Jim Courier on the TV.
*Ramos-Vinolas 2-2 Djokovic
Novak has to face another two break points, he is under the pump on his serve so far.
Rescues one with a wrong-footing pass, then Ramos-Vinolas strays outside the lines like a toddler colouring in. Deuce.

Fissuh Hailu: He has not been in form recently but never write off Djokovic too early.
*Ramos-Vinolas 2-2 Djokovic
So Novak's last service game lasted 13 minutes. What's he got up his sleeve this time?
A groan, so far, as he pumps a shot well long and out. Somebody in the crowd says something hilarious, the Gallic equivalent of 'come on Tim!' perhaps and the umpire has to remind the patrons to be quiet. Please.
0-30.

Pressure? ARV dumps one into the net to give Djokovic three break points, and he only needs one.
Ramos-Vinolas 2-1 Djokovic*
After that mammoth third game both players were in need of the break as they change ends.
Novak Djokovic is not looking at his best in these early stages. But you can never question the man's competitive nature. And he goes 0-30 up here.

Defending champion Garbine Muguruza has just completed an emotional news conference following her defeat by Kristina Mladenovic, which saw the Spaniard have to briefly break off from talking to the press as she broke down in tears.
Muguruza, who was visibly upset with the crowd when she walked of Suzanne Lenglen Court, said: "Of course I'm sad. It's a very painful defeat here in the French Open. I think the crowd was really tough today. If you'd been in my shoes you would have understood."
*Ramos-Vinolas 2-1 Djokovic
Djokovic is looking to avoid becoming the first defending French Open champion to lose before the quarter-finals since Rafael Nadal lost in the fourth round in 2009.
*Ramos-Vinolas 2-1 Djokovic
Novak Djokovic's best shot so far, a snorter of a backhand down the line, and then in on the line. Beautiful stuff.
But then he hits the net again. This game goes into the 13th minute, Djokovic unsettled by somebody in the crowd now.
Eventually he holds on.

Deuce again. What was I saying about there being plenty of time to finish this match tonight?
Novak is missing his first serve, not timing the ball quite as well as he would like. Another error, another break point...saved with a smash!
Deuce #5. Number six...

Novak Djokovic faces another break point but a 96mph forehand winner and then an ace down the middle turn things around for him.
He then punts a shot into the net. A lot of unforced errors from the champ. Blistering baseline ballistics! A 25-shot rally next.
High quality match here.
Deuce.

Another booming forehand winner from the Spaniard! What a shot. A gasp from the crowd it was that good. Bang on the line.
Could be quite a game if we crack on like this. Novak Djokovic trades shots in a lengthy rally though and wins the point. 15-30.
*Ramos-Vinolas 2-0 Djokovic
No signs of worry from Novak Djokovic, he's seen this all before. Class will tell, right?
But that's a beauty, whizzing forehand winner down the line from a super confident Ramos-Vinolas! 0-15.

Not a big server? Not a problem. ARV holds to love.
