Ramos-Vinolas 1-0 Djokovic*
The sort of start Albert Ramos-Vinolas would have been dreaming of. But ARV, as I'm going to call him, isn't a big server.

There appears little danger of a repeat of last night, when play was called off early as the rain set in for the evening, and the crowds around Philippe Chatrier Court are building in size and anticipation. It's been a balmy Parisian day and the crowd here love an upset, so it won't take much to get them going should Ramos-Vinolas give them good reason.
*Ramos-Vinolas 1-0 Djokovic
Ramos-Vinolas earns a break point with a cracking winner, and then Novak dumps his first serve into the net.
A big chance - taken! Clinical passing shot too. Novak Djokovic loses his serve.
*Ramos-Vinolas 0-0 Djokovic
Lusty hitting from both players in the early stages, a suggestion of long baseline rallies to come?
Ramos-Vinolas is left-handed which is maybe a warm-up for Rafa Nadal for Novak, as well.
*Ramos-Vinolas 0-0 Djokovic
And we're off. Novak Djokovic to serve.

There are maybe three-and-a-half-hours of daylight left in Paris so there shouldn't be any problems with getting this match finished tonight.
But who knows? A spot of rain, some long rallies, five sets...

This is a big evening for Djokovic in his bid to hold on to that trophy he finally got his hands on 12 months ago. Ramos-Vinolas can edge ahead of Rafael Nadal for clay-court wins this year with 22 if he can get past the world number two, and this contest was flagged early on as potential problem for Djokovic.
Albert Ramos-Vinolas v Novak Djokovic
Clay is Albert Ramos-Vinolas’ strongest surface. Easily.
103 of his 147 Tour-level match-wins have come on clay, compared to 40 on hard courts and four on grass.
Don't back him at Wimbledon then but today - maybe...

A good question.
The world number 20 - seeded 19th - is unlikely to be a pushover for Djokovic this afternoon.
But Nole did drop just five games in their only previous clay court meeting at Monte Carlo-1000 in 2015.

This is Djokovic's most dangerous match of the first four rounds without a shadow of a doubt. From here it's going to get horrible for him with Thiem, Nadal and Murray to play later this week if he's going to win the title, but this will be a big test against a very good player.

Here comes Novak Djokovic, cheered to the rafters of Phillippe-Chatrier.
Djokovic was taken to five sets last time out of course. Shaken the cobwebs out?

Gentleman, consider the bar raised...
Rafael Nadal is playing clay-court tennis on an altogether different level from the rest.
Novak Djokovic, the number two seed, with 12 Grand Slams in his back pocket, is next of the big boys up to try and prove that he's up to the task.
Can he show that he has the game to hurt Nadal? First he has to beat another Spaniard in the Parisian sunshine.
Albert Ramos-Vinolas. After you.
It's not goodbye, it's au revoir...
Thanks to Rafa breezing into the quarter-finals, I'm going to take advantage and nip upstairs to the BBC canteen. Full Sunday roast on apparently.
You can still hear what is happening from Roland Garros - where defending women's champion Garbine Muguruza is about to start her last-16 match against home hope Kristina Mladenovic - on BBC Radio 5 live. Turn on your wireless or listen right here by clicking the 'Live Coverage' tab.
I'll be back a little later to see if reigning champion Novak Djokovic can respond to the marker laid down by Rafa Nadal.
Inabit!

There was a huge cheer when Nadal was announced on Court, and another when he closed it out 110 minutes later, but it was more a performance the crowd could admire than engage with. Which the nine-time champion can take as a job well done, such was his dominance over a high-class opponent.
It seems unlikely that a routine baseline game is going to trouble Nadal too much, so maybe the big serving of Milos Raonic could be a threat in the next round.
Nadal's girlfriend, sister, mum and dad look understandably delighted in the stands, high-fiving with some youngsters, presumably family members. Nice work uncle Rafa.
Raonic 6-4 6-7 7-6 1-2 Carreno Busta
Who will have the honour of facing Rafa Nadal in the last eight then?
We are into a fourth set on Court One, and Milos Raonic is two sets to one up against Pablo Carreno Busta.
Nadal 6-1 6-2 6-2 Bautista Agut
Nine-time Roland Garros champion Rafa Nadal after beating Spanish compatriot Roberto Bautista Agut: "I am happy with way I have played in the opening four rounds, I have played at a very good level and it is good for my confidence.
"I have a tough match now against Pablo Carreno Busta or Milos Raonic and I have to be at my best if I am going to have a chance."
Nadal 6-1 6-2 6-2 Bautista Agut
Rafa goes through of his post-match ritual of tying and retying his shoelaces before eventually going back into the middle of Lenglen for his on-court interview...
And the tri-lingual Spaniard kicks off by speaking in French. Doesn't he almost make you sick...

Nadal is making this look so easy. He looks to be the incredible Nadal we know, playing with enormous confidence and he's going to be incredibly difficult to beat.
Nadal 6-1 6-2 6-2 Bautista Agut
A job done and a job done well.
Bautista Agut delays the inevitable with a perfect forehand winner down the line, and then Nadal toys with him by pinging a forehand wide.
But he seals another superb win by grinding Bautista Agut down on the baseline, a waft of the forehand failing to clear the net.
*Nadal 6-1 6-2 5-2 Bautista Agut
An ace gives Rafa a 30-0 lead, then he wallops another forehand winner from the centre of court for 40-0.
Match point. Or should I say three match points...
