"Oh. My. God. Are you kidding me!" A teenage Aussie lad nearby can't believe Nick Kyrgios has had to call it a day.

To be fair, it was pretty obvious that the 20th seed was in serious pain. His movement was limited, his grimaces wide

Pierre-Hugues Herbert wanders into the middle of the court, claps all sides of the court as Kyrgios slopes off quickly out of a side door.

If you're a Laura Robson fan please do not give up hope. There's still a glimmer of hope that the tennis is there but the confidence is low. She made too many mistakes.

Pure stubbornness from Laura Robson, saving four match points. She comes darting forward again, battering in a forehand and landed it nicely on the baseline.

Fifth opportunity now for Haddad Maia as Robson overworks a forehand...

Quite a few fans are exiting at the end of this second set. Perhaps they think the writing is on the wall?

Nick Kyrgios has been as combustible as a rain-soaked bonfire out there. This is not the Kyrgios we know.

Robson saves two match points as Haddad Maia nets, just struggling to serve this match out. She looks a tad nervous - quite understandably - and a double fault takes us to deuce

  9. Tsonga takes controlpublished at 12:45 British Summer Time 3 July 2017

    Tsonga 6-3 6-2 Norrie

British wildcard Cameron Norrie is in a bit of trouble now. The 21-year-old has lost the second set against French 12 seed Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who now leads 6-3 6-2.

Fed Cup captain Anne Keothavong joins in with the rest of the crowd at court 18, applauding and cheering as Laura Robson makes her way to the baseline.

It's oh-so-easy for Beatriz Haddad Maia, though. Down come the big serves and she meets Robson's forehands with some natty backhands, just waiting for the error from the Brit.

Nick Kyrgios has never lost in the first round at Wimbledon.

That's going to change unless he manages to turn this around quickly.

Seventeen unforced errors from the Aussie firebrand, compared to five from Pierre-Hugues Herbert - who has also cracked 26 winners - tells you everything you need to know.

Herbert is one set away from reaching round two for the third successive year.

A composed love hold from Robson, nailing her forehand returns, but the shoulders are down as she walks back to her seat. It'll be Haddad Maia to serve for the match.

Laura Robson's timing is all out and her footwork is poor. Surely Haddad Maia is on her way to the second round now.

    *Robson 4-6 1-5 Haddad Maia

A shake of the head from Laura Robson as a strike down the line goes long, yet again. The Brazilian's serve is too big for her and it's a struggle for her to control the ball.

A two-handed forehand goes inches out and that's a simple hold for Beatriz Haddad Maia. She's a game away from the second round.

So much of this is a lack of confidence for Laura Robson. She's not playing on the top tour and life is so much harder on the challenger circuit.

    Robson 4-6 1-4 Haddad Maia*

That's more like it from Robson! She has Haddad Maia nipping up and down behind the baseline before she nails a backhand winner.

It's not enough, though - the Briton nets and hands Haddad Maia a break point. The Brazilian doesn't miss the opportunity as Robson, flat footed, flaps a forehand long.

Classic Kyrgios. Hunched shoulders, quick points, moody mutterings.

"What do you want me to do?!" he asks, erm, himself. I think.

Keep your serve Nick, that'll be a start.

Herbert clocks up two break points, Kyrgios saves the first with a vicious forehand.

Not the second. A massive bite of the net cord puts the French world number 70 a set and a break up.
