Ivo Karlovic is having a long chat with his trainer, who has been twisting and lifting that arm around. They've opted to take an injury time out, which gives Aljaz Bedene more chance to practise his shadow returning.

  6. Konta breaks againpublished at 18:47 British Summer Time 3 July 2017

    *Konta 6-2 4-1 Hsieh

    It's all Konta now.

The Briton has two break points and moves a set and 4-1 up when Su-Wei Hsieh forces a tame backhand into the net.

    One-way traffic.

    *Watson 6-1 4-3 Zanevska

Over on court two, it's all looking rather good for Heather Watson.

Maryna Zanevska has her eyes pointed skyward as another forehand winner goes merrily zipping past her. She holds, though, as a flighted Watson backhand finds the net.

  8. Game and third set - Karlovicpublished at 18:45 British Summer Time 3 July 2017

    Karlovic 7-6 (7-5) 6-7 (6-8) 7-6 (9-7) Bedene

Set point Bedene, courtesy of a body serve, while Ivo Karlovic gives his right shoulder a whirl.

Karlovic saves set point with his 33rd - yup, you read that right - ace of the match and he comes tippy-toeing forward to slap a winner beyond Bedene.

That's long from Bedene - and Karlovic will take the third set! He's called for the trainer though as he sits and pokes at that right shoulder.

    Konta 6-2 3-1 Hsieh*

Another little wobble from Jo Konta as she sends the ball well wide, and finds herself 0-30 down.

The British number one fights back to 40-30 but another unforced error takes us to deuce.

Konta plants a fine backhand past her opponent to take the advantage but hits long again to send us back level.

Another advantage to Konta and this time she pounces at the net to hold.

  10. Broady loses first setpublished at 18:43 British Summer Time 3 July 2017

    Broady 4-6 Begu

Irina-Camelia Begu shows no sign of letting up and takes the first set from Naomi Broady on court 14.

Broady needs to get her big serve doing more damage, especially on the second serve, and cut down the error count.

Otherwise she will be joining Laura Robson and Cameron Norrie in the list of first-day British losers.

  11. The tie-break goes onpublished at 18:42 British Summer Time 3 July 2017

    Karlovic 7-6 (7-5) 6-7 (6-8) 6-6 Bedene*

A slip from Ivo Karlovic at the net, an attempted slam only finding the ground, hands Bedene a 3-5 lead - and he fluffs it with consecutive slices into the net!

Karlovic had been clutching at his knee but now he's darting forward, drawing the errors out of the Briton as he hangs on the baseline.

A corker of a serve, 115mph, comes Bedene's way and he can't do anything but spear it long, but Karlovic backhands a return into the net! Six points all...

There's a higher work rate with Konta, she moves her feet well and there's intensity about the way she moves around the court, whereas Hsieh just glides across the court.

  14. Konta breakspublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 3 July 2017

    *Konta 6-2 2-1 Hsieh

Konta is in control now. She earns two break points and needs only one chance to take the game, as Hsieh fails to clear the net with a forehand.

  15. Postpublished at 18:33 British Summer Time 3 July 2017

    Konta 6-2 1-1 Hsieh*

Johanna Konta suffers a little wobble on her service game, sending a forehand well out before slamming another one into the net.

But the British number one does eventually level the second set as Hsieh hits long past the baseline.

  16. Tie-break timepublished at 18:32 British Summer Time 3 July 2017

    Karlovic 7-6 (7-5) 6-7 (6-8) 6-6 Bedene*

Ivo Karlovic's serve can get him out of the stickiest situations.

He responds to a battered forehand from Aljaz Bedene with another ace before a tight backhand at the net ensures he holds.

We're into tie-break territory again. That felt inevitable. Three sets in and we've yet to see a break of serve.

Hsieh Su-Wei adjusts her white visor as she struggles to deal with the awkward sunlight falling on Court One.

The Taiwanese world number 113 doesn't look too put off by the shadows, though. She holds with relative ease.

  18. Wawrinka loses first setpublished at 18:29 British Summer Time 3 July 2017

    Wawrinka 4-6 0-3 Medvedev*

Meanwhile, on Centre Court, it's Russian qualifier Daniil Medvedev who has taken the first set against Stan Wawrinka.

Medvedev, who lost his Eastbourne semi-final to Novak Djokovic last week, sent down nine winners to take an early lead.

Wawrinka, as you'd expect, has hit back in the second though, securing an early break.
