In the midst of a tumultuous match between Caroline Wozniacki and Timea Babos, the two play out an extraordinary rally. Babos narrowly misses out on a point despite an impressive left-handed shot.

A huge break of serve in the opening game of the decider on Centre Court, as Timea Babos breaks to love against the fifth seed Caroline Wozniacki.

But the tables have turned again. After a series of unforced errors from the Hungarian, Wozniacki has broken back straight away.

This is an epic encounter.

Eighth seed Dominic Thiem is steaming through his match on Court One.

He's taken the second set against Vasek Pospisil and is already a break up in the third.

Easily as you like, Dimitrov knocks off his sixth game and claims the second set 6-2.

After a nervy first set, he dominated that one, winning 91% of points on his first serve.

Can Schwartzman find anything to prevent the 13th seed sweeping through to round two?

Rather predictably, Tomas Berdych and Jeremy Chardy's battle of wills on court two has drifted into a tie-break.

It's Berdych that's claimed the spoils from that contest to claim a two set lead.

A bit nervy from Timea Babos, slicing her first set point long, but Wozniacki's forehand pops too far, and that's game, Babos!

Into a decider we go. Wozniacki slings her towel over her shoulder and heads off court.

Going back to that previous entry... it is fair to say Independence Day has been celebrated in style by the American contingent at Wimbledon.

Six players who represent the Star Spangled Banner have won today, with a seventh guaranteed as 23rd seed Isner leads Fritz.

Ryan Harrison is set to make it eight, going two sets and a break up against Croatia's Borna Coric.

And there could be a ninth American winner of the day if Frances Tiafoe, who is a double break ahead in the third set after a share of the opening two, beats Robin Haase of the Netherlands.

An extraordinary shot from Timea Babos, carving a left-handed forehand, despite being a rightie, to allow her to adjust at the last second!

The Hungarian rolls her eyes at herself as she throws away a point she's controlling all the way, an overhead smash drifting wide, and now Wozniacki will serve to stay in the set.

This year's Wimbledon is so open so we are looking at someone like Pliskova, whose best is the second round, or the two former champions in Venus or Petra Kvitova. But everyone is a little nervous and jumpy backstage. Wozniacki looks nervous, I've never seen her complain so much. She looks unsettled.

The sound the ball makes off the racquet is one of the most pleasing noises in sport. A good old fashioned thwack ringing around Centre Court.

Wozniacki holds her serve before Timea Babos fires through her own service game, that dinky drop shot again tidying it up.

Another round of boos for Wozniacki as she gets the ball kids lined up in an unorthodox position to throw the balls to her...

Dimitrov looks to have settled as he picks off Schwartzman to break in the first game of the second set.

Then suddenly he looks rattled again, finding himself 15-40 on his own serve.

A well-worked point followed by a booming ace and it's back to deuce.

Another big serve, he's got the advantage and finally forces Schwartzman into an error after a lengthy rally to secure an important hold.

Tomorrow's order of play is out - and it'll be Johanna Konta to get things going on Centre Court.

Not often do you see punters queuing and craning their necks around Court 14, one of four outer courts sandwiched between Centre and One.

But two American players - Taylor Fritz and John Isner - are currently locked in a first-round battle. And today is 4 July. AKA Independence Day.

Virtually every accent you hear close to the court entrances are American. And Alexis Johnson, a native of LA and here in London visiting her daughter, is one of them.

Although her snazzy Stars and Stripes hat is what makes her stand out from the crowd

"I've already seen Shelby Rogers and Jack Sock win today," says Alexis as she peers through a packed gangway. "And now I'm going to see another American - whoever it is - win...!"

Caroline Wozniacki hasn't entirely endeared herself to the Centre Court crowd.

There's a huge round of applause as Timea Babos taps in a delicate drop shot, Wozniacki unable to meet it, before she tidies up a love service game with an ace. She's still a break up.

Swinging in his swivel chair in his backwards hat, resembling a naughty school boy, Bernard Tomic gave a quite remarkable post-match interview earlier.
