    Azarenka 3-4 Watson

Former British number one on BBC TV

I have a new system to decide who is going to win the women's title.

I go through the draw and I pick the least likely to win and that's who I put my 50p on!

That's how open this draw is.

Urgh. What a time to cough up your first double fault of the match.

Heather Watson sighs as she walks back to her chair, the Centre crowd ratchet up their support.

But Azarenka brings us back on to serve, breaking Watson's serve to love in the seventh. The Brit's advantage is over.

    Bedene 6-7 5-6 Muller

    Oh this could be decisive.

A fine passing shot by Bedene gives the Briton the first point of the game but then he finds the net in successive points and Muller leads 30-15. Bedene, off balance, then loops a return over Muller and the man from Luxembourg has two break points.

Muller then whacks a backhand into the bottom corner and takes the game. Big break!

More fans are being wafted on Centre Court than a convention of Spanish flamenco dancers.

It's scorching. Not least because Heather Watson is on fire...

The British number two has cracked 10 winners already, including two in that last game as Azarenka desperately hung on to her serve.

    *Azarenka 1-4 Watson

Azarenka takes the opening point of the next game, but Heather Watson shows great pace to sprint to the net and find a winner.

She then provides a brilliant two-handed backhand pass down the line. Azarenka wants it checked but it was in, just about.

Moments later Azarenka, storming in to the net, hits one long, not for the first time today. We go to deuce.

    Bedene 6-7 5-5 Muller

Yowzers. A Muller serve is full of slice and swerve and absolutely bamboozles Bedene as the ball pings off the tip of his racket and off court. That characterises a dominant game for Muller as he holds comfortably.

Are we heading for another tie-break?

It is all going to plan so far for Heather Watson. The fifth game of the first set is in the book and it is another one for the Brit.

This is her eighth appearance at Wimbledon and she is closing in on it being her best ever performance.

    Bedene 6-7 4-4 Muller

We're approaching the business end of the set now as Muller holds serve, a superb volley giving the Luxembourg man the eighth game.

Fans in the stands get their, erm, fans out and start wafting the warm air around them. The heat is rising both on and off the court.

I don't want to jinx it but Watson has been serving very, very well so far.

Kei Nishikori and Roberto Bautista Agut are into a second set tie-break of what has been an entertaining contest - the Spaniard in particular has been playing some unorthodox shots, with varying degrees of success.

I love Heather Watson's playing style - her legs move side to side but her upper body doesn't lose it's shape or form at all.

    It's beautiful to see.

    Azarenka 1-3 Watson*

It has taken longer than she would have hoped, but Azarenka now has a game on the scoreboard.

A clinical, arrowed backhand down the line from Watson is one of the best shots of the fourth game, but it cannot stop the Belarusian who takes the game thanks to an ace belted down the middle.

    Bedene 6-7 4-3 Muller

Muller pushes Bedene hard in the seventh game but the Briton fends off the challenge to hold serve, sealing the game with his 13th ace of the match.

    *Azarenka 0-3 Watson

Watson does what she needs to consolidate after that early break of serve.

An ace from Watson in the third game of the match before Azarenka misjudges a two-handed backhand and sends it too far left. What a start for Heather. Just over 10 minutes in and she leads 3-0.
