So how difficult will it be for Azarenka to cope with the challenges of juggling a professional tennis career with motherhood?

Over on Court One, seventh seed Marin Cilic is about to face America's Steve Johnson.

The Croatian is bidding to reach the last-16 here for the sixth time.

It's a first Grand Slam meeting between big-serving Cilic and 26th seed Johnson.

    Azarenka v Watson

These two will be sick of the sight of each other by the end of the day.

It is a hectic schedule for both players as after their singles match, they are set to face each other in mixed doubles action later on today.

Watson and Henri Kontinen, who won the mixed doubles competition at Wimbledon last year, are in first-round action on court eight later on today. Their opponents are Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia... and Victoria Azarenka.

There is even more room on court two now - there was a mass exodus after Aljaz Bedene lost that first set. Maybe the way he has started the second will bring the punters back in?

  5. Postpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    Bedene 6-7 2-0 Muller

Time to build on those foundations then for Aljaz Bedene. A very early break in set two.

Another ace down the line will do nicely, that's 11 already for Bedene, but Muller is a wily old fox and gets back to deuce with a cracking forehand into the corner.

He strays long though to hand Bedene advantage, but he too can't keep it between the lines. Sloppy, that was an easy one to put away, short return. Half tracker.

A slip and a slide behind the baseline and Bedene chops a slice wide to give Muller break point. Saved. Deuce once more...

The pair have also met four times in singles competition. The stats do not make good reading for Heather Watson. Played four, lost four, sets won none.

This will only be the second time they have met in a Grand Slam, with Azarenka easily winning 6-0 6-1 in the first round of the Australian Open in 2012.

  7. 'The new darling of Wimbledon'published at 13:00 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    Azarenka v Watson

    Sam Smith
Former British number one on BBC TV

A lot has happened in the last two years since Heather Watson was last out here on Centre Court against Serena Williams - I wonder if any of that will come out in this match.

Heather is not that keen on the practice court but loves the big stage and she really has become the new "darling" of Wimbledon.

These crowds love her because she looks like she is enjoying herself out there.

There is some stunning tennis being played on Court Three.

Two hot dog shots in the past two games.

The latter of which secured a break point for Roberto Bautista Agut, but Kei Nishikori held on and we continue on serve in the second set.

You can watch the match here.

  9. Wimbledon inspires Watsonpublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    Azarenka v Watson

    Andrew Castle
    BBC Sport tennis commentator

She may have been away having her little baby Leo but there is something about fitness versus freshness and Victoria Azarenka is hitting the ball absolutely brilliantly.

I think it will be hard for Heather Watson to win this - Vika is a two-time Grand Slam champion, but she is hitting the ball well and moving around the court well.

Having said that, playing Heather Watson here is not like playing Heather Watson anywhere - Wimbledon very much inspires her.

  10. Bedene breaks!published at 12:58 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    Bedene 6-7 2-0 Muller

Evergreen Gilles Muller has his gameplan nailed and he's not one to change it. Serve. Volley. Repeat.

But hang on, after an opening volley Bedene forces a break point. Chance he needs to take - and he does with a superb lob!

  11. A career best for Watson?published at 12:58 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    Azarenka v Watson

Great Britain's Heather Watson has reached the third round of Wimbledon for the third time in her career, but she will have to be at her absolute best if she is going to go any further.

On Centre Court, she faces former world number one Victoria Azarenka, a semi-finalist here in 2011 and 2012.

Azarenka is ranked 683rd in the world, but don't be fooled by that. This is only her second tournament back after giving birth to Leo in December and she has already showed her quality in this competition by beating 15th seed Elena Vesnina last time out.

Ah ha! Here is the third of our British Fab Four.

Johanna Konta is tucked on a court out of the way of my prying eyes, but not those of loads of eager fans.

Tens are crammed in a narrow aisle between the elevated practice courts of one and two - where Wozzy and Monfils are - and a row of six more courts.

Eyes, noses and camera phones are pressed up against the mesh.

Konta cracks plenty of balls with coach Andrew Fitzpatrick then disappears into an exit tunnel. No time for autographs or selfies, unfortunately. She's got her business head on.

  15. Game and first setpublished at 12:50 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    Bedene 6-7 Muller (4-7)

Muller smashes a big forehand cross-court, he leads 6-4. Set point. He then puts Bedene's second serve out of reach of the Briton and takes the set.

  16. Postpublished at 12:48 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    Bedene 6-6 Muller (4-5)

Cagey stuff. Muller serving again and Bedene breaks back with a great passing shot! Four apiece.

Bedene then chips wide, hurried into the shot.

Court two is still a long way from capacity but Aljaz Bedene is doing his best to get the crowd here going, and those delicate drop-shots of his definitely help.

So far, there has been a disappointing lack of Union Jack action here too - but I bring good news for the Slovenian-born Brit because a British brolly went in the corner of the court at the last change-over, and at the sa a woman with a patriotic scarf sat down to my right.

David Beckham will be here soon at this rate, wearing THAT Geri Halliwell dress.

That is not an easy shot - see how low he got on that winner.

His eyes were level with the ball. Beautifully done.

    Bedene 6-6 Muller (1-4)

Gilles Muller can take a grip of this tie break now. Can he hold his serve?

    Yes.

Bedene fires a backhand long and Muller then finds a lovely volley to go 4-1 up.
