    Bedene 0-1 Muller

A routine service hold for Gilles Muller, swinging that big left-handed serve away from Bedene. I don't see many cheap points on offer for the Brit here.

Bedene's first round match against Ivo Karlovic went to a tie-break in the first four sets...

Yes! A fellow stickler for punctuality!

We still haven't started on Court Two, I don't need to tel you that, you're there.

Tom, re 1135. A niggle of mine too. Why can't matches start at 1130/1pm as they are advertised? It's too tempting to hit the bar during the wait....

Talk about going early - he hasn't even hit a ball yet: "Come on Aljaz, you've got this," shouts one fan on court two as the first of the Brits in action today walks out on court to start his warm-up.

    Bedene v Muller

Bedene is bidding to reach the round of 16 here for the first time and record his best Grand Slam result.

He had never made it past the second round at Wimbledon before.

  6. Konta now the favourite for the title?published at 11:41 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

    Konta v Sakkari

    Andrew Castle
    BBC Sport tennis commentator

Amazingly, because of all the top seeds being knocked out, Johanna Konta is now the favourite for the title. I am not sure I see it quite that way but then you can ask, who else would you pick?

Perhaps Venus Williams would be mine but she has had a tough few weeks.

Konta only needs to perform like she did against Donna Vekic and she has a great chance.

A year ago, she was close to 150 in the world - we had no idea she would be this good now.

Here they come! A roar for Aljaz Bedene as he marches out onto Court Two. You're 10 minutes late lads! Not on.

Nobody else seems bothered to be honest.

The players are at the net for the coin toss now. Does the day start with a British win?

Players are warming up on other outside courts, it seems. Japanese ninth seed Kei Nishikori is possibly the biggest name on show in these early moments - he's on Court Three against Roberto Bautista Agut.

You can watch that match over here.

Don't panic - this isn't an army of the undead at the All England Club... just a lot of very keen tennis fans inching their way toward Murray Mound earlier, looking to grab a spot for the day.

Zombies or not, you don't want to get in their way... trust me.

    Bedene v Muller

Gilles Muller is ranked 26 in the world and will be a testing opponent for world 58 Aljaz Bedene.

Can he get the British charge off to a winning start? Almost time to get play under way. Court Two is filling up nicely.

  14. Watson back to her best?published at 11:25 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

Heather Watson takes on two-time Grand Slam champion Victoria Azarenka, recently back on the tour after the birth of her son Leo, in the opening match on Centre Court at about 13:00.

Watson is enjoying a real return to form after slipping outside the world's top 100 this year.

The 25-year-old reached the semi-finals in Eastbourne last week, and thrashed 18th seed Anastasija Sevastova in round two.

She is now one win away from reaching the second week of a Grand Slam for the first time.

"It's been one of my goals forever," said Watson.

"I made those big goals years ago. Making the second week of a Slam would be huge for me."

"We were offered Court Two tickets but we decided to come here," says Paula, who has got herself a great view of the big screen on Murray Mound.

She and Josh queued since before 5pm yesterday to get in the grounds to soak up the atmosphere, and get behind the home players.

"We wanted to watch all the Brits," Paula added. "Sitting here you can see every shot and I am quite confident we will have another good day.

"Can all of them can get through? I don't see why not - and we will keep supporting them all anyway."

Away from the rarefied air of Wimbledon village, down the hill in the town centre the queues are longer than ever for the buses to the tennis.

The star names rarely venture down these parts, although I did see Coco Vandeweghe heading for dinner earlier this week. Nothing will match Toni Nadal looking bemusedly into the Argos shop window one evening a few years back. They keep it real, those Nadals.

  20. The ultimate prize? A picnic table on Murray Mound...published at 11:15 British Summer Time 7 July 2017

It's a big day for British tennis and people have queued for hours to get the best spot to watch it.

The picnic tables on Murray Mound are prime real estate today and James Webster and Harry Kane (not that one) have bagged one of the best spots.

They queued since 7pm last night, with this sort of view of the action in mind.

"We were pretty realistic of what to expect - we knew we weren't going to get on Centre Court," said James.

"We were given the option of Court One or Court Two, but we are pretty happy with what we've got here. It is beautiful weather and it is going to be a great day."

How many of the four Brits will make it to the last 16? "I might go for a 50-50 there - I don't want to get too carried away."
