    Zverev 6-7 (3-7) 2-3 Federer*

Zverev sinks to his knees as he nets and hands Federer another break point.

But the German's second serve is enough to nullify it. To deuce.

Zverev has the advantage and holds when Federer finds the net. The world number 30 needed that.

It's not easy psychologically for Zverev, he has played a lot of good tennis and is down a set and a break. It would be easy for him to try too hard but he has to keep doing the same thing and hope Federer's levels drop a little.

Tighter than a dodgy hamstring this one. Still on serve in the fourth set, Britain's Marcus Willis and Jay Clarke had a sniff at 30-30 in the last French service game, only for the wind to waft it away.

We know all about Willbomb, but I've just heard someone christening Clarke as 'Jaybomb'. Not working for me...

    *Zverev 6-7 (3-7) 1-3 Federer

Ace + forehand volley + long return + forehand winner = love hold for Federer.

If it's any consolation for Zverev, he is forcing Federer to produce perfection. Unfortunately for the German, Federer is delivering. Sheer excellence from Roger in that particular game, Zverev didn't do anything particularly wrong.

    Zverev 6-7 (3-7) 1-2 Federer*

Federer has a second break point and he produces a stunning forehand return to take it.

    Zverev 6-7 (3-7) 1-1 Federer*

Mischa Zverev's overhead smash causes his white baseball cap to fly off, revealing a thicket of curls.

Hat back on, the German left-hander and his Swiss counterpart are poised on 30-30.

Federer gives himself a fist pump with a simply brilliant backhand down the line. Break point!

It doesn't last long, mind. Zverev lands an ace for deuce.

Federer is one of the best at taking them big steps and covering an awful lot of ground to get to the ball.

    *Zverev 6-7 (3-7) 1-1 Federer

Federer races through his service game to love, finishing off with an ace. That'll do nicely.

    Zverev 6-7 (3-7) 1-0 Federer*

A gasp of 'gaaaaaaaaah' from Federer as he mucks up a forehand.

The Swiss pulls the score to 30-30, but then he shanks a backhand into the crowd. A lady thinks she's going to keep that ball, but the umpire isn't having any of it. Over the microphone, he's demanding it be returned. Funny.

The AWOL ball does eventually turn up and Zverev goes on to hold.

Imagine rocking up for a doubles match and you've got Martina Hingis and Jamie Murray staring you down.

The top seeds in the mixed doubles have completed a straightforward, relatively speedy victory over British duo Neal Skupski and Anna Smith.

It's been a highly entertaining set, raw serving and volleying and some wonderful passing shots, some subtle tennis.

The home fans are being kept busy as the sun fades on SW19.

While Marcus Willis and Jay Clarke are a set away from an eye-catching win, Jamie Murray is through in the mixed.

Murray has just knocked out fellow Brits Neal Skupski and Anna Smith - with the help of his partner of course.

Who is that? Some woman called Martina Hingis. Me neither.

    *Zverev 6-6 (3-6) Federer

Double-handed backhand from Zverev, going for the big winner, but too much oomph sees the ball sail wide.

And a beautiful backhand slap from Federer, all elegance, and he's got three set points...

A fortuitous forehand puts Federer 2-0 up but then he hits long. The Swiss challenges, even though it's miles beyond the baseline.
