    He's done it!!

You'd think Kyle Edmund had won the match. Everyone on court two is on their feet.

Kyle Edmund lifts his arms in the air in celebration and he's broken serve finally in that 19-minute game.

How much has that taken out of Basilashvili?

    Edmund 7-6 (7-0) 3-6 4-6 1-0 Basilashvili*

Kyle Edmund definitely has the crowd on his side here. They roar as he sees off another game point to Basilashvili with another rasping forehand. Neither player has the physical capability to limp over the line here.

Again a break opportunity comes and goes for Edmund. He just can't put two points together when he needs too. This game is closing on 18 minutes.

Basilashvili has game point. This has just been cruel.

    Edmund 7-6 (7-0) 3-6 4-6 1-0 Basilashvili*

The break point is saved yet again by Nikoloz Basilashvili. Kyle Edmund has had 15 chances to break in this match but has only taken three of them.

The Georgian has game point but Edmund winds up and crashes a forehand winner. Back to deuce number nine. This game has gone on over 13 minutes.

Now here's a fifth break point for Kyle Edmund... It slips by again. Brutal, brutal stuff.

A 12th double fault for Basilashvili. This is getting a bit silly.

And another!! From game point Basilashvili to break point again for Kyle Edmund. Basilashvili goes for a wander at the back of the court to bide himself some time...

    Edmund 7-6 (7-0) 3-6 4-6 1-0 Basilashvili*

Edmund digs really deep to keep swinging from the forehand side to force his opponent left and right. He knows that's the play he needs. He clenches another fist towards his support team.

Another break point chance... saved again by Basilashvili. Deuce.

Serve attacked by Edmund. Short ball from Basilashvili. Thumped away by Edmund. Break point again... netted again.

Massive moments in this match. Deuce once again.

Basilashvili looks really uncomfortable suddenly. He's red-faced and really puffing out his cheeks to get some air in. He's also starting to miscue the ball like Edmund did earlier. That must be due to the heat because his timing has gone as if he's lost focus.

    Edmund 7-6 (7-0) 3-6 4-6 1-0 Basilashvili*

There's a slight grimace on Kyle Edmund's face as he fights his way back to deuce in this game.

He then goes long with a forehand though. He was making those balls in the first set but both players' footwork has slowed as they frazzle in the heat. Basilashvili won that point but he slams the ball off the board at the back of the court. He's not happy.

The game goes on. Both players make mistakes and a break point even comes and goes for Edmund. Now Basilashvili goes long. Back to deuce again.

Like Barry Flatman says there is still hope in this match for Kyle Edmund if he can battle on in the awful conditions.

It's 1:20pm in the afternoon and Edmund aborts a serve in this first game of the fourth set with the sun high in the sky, right in the vision of his ball toss.

The crowd has thinned on this court as well. The fans have a choice as to whether to be out there. The players don't. Those that are watching on, mostly in the shade at the back of the stands, see Edmund win the game.

I think Edmund is the better conditioned of the players and the serve will become so important as the match goes on.

Basilashvili's serve is shaky, the double faults seem to come in batches, and there's no real confidence. I do feel Kyle is just trying to overhit the ball. He's made a lot of unforced errors.

    Edmund 7-6 (7-0) 3-6 4-6 Basilashvili

    And Basilashvili closes it out.

As he did in his first match of the tournament against Kevin Anderson, Kyle Edmund is going to have to go the distance if he is going to progress.

    Edmund 7-6 (7-0) 3-6 4-5 Basilashvili*

The players exchange points at the start of this crucial game and then Edmund goes wide with a backhand to give Basilashvili a 30-15 lead.

Another double fault now from the Georgian. 11 in the match. 30-30.

Return way long from Edmund. Set point to Basilashvili...

    "My back!" says mum.

    "My thighs!" yells daughter.

    "My bum!" bellows dad.

That's dads for you. One family's reaction as they peel themselves off the seating on show court two and head for refreshment. The grounds are noticeably quieter today as seemingly people have reasoned that this might not be the day to sit outside for hours on end. For those who dare, there is sunscreen freely available, as well as water fountains and 'mist fans'. I'm trying to work out how long you can stand in front of one before people start to complain.

And hold Kyle Edmund does. He wins his service game to love but heads to his chair knowing he now must break serve to stay in this third set.

Edmund has hit 46 unforced errors in this match. Both players have struggled at times, Edmund more so in the second hour.

    *Edmund 7-6 (7-0) 3-6 3-5 Basilashvili

Kyle Edmund's head drops towards the baking hot court surface after putting a forehand into the net on a point he looked well-placed to win early on in the rally.

Better from Edmund. He fizzes a forehand winner and then forces Basilashvili to hit wide on the third shot of the rally. 40-30.

Big point but it goes the way of Basilashvili. This time the winner comes off his racket and Edmund doesn't waste any effort in closing the ball down.

A must-hold service game coming up for Kyle Edmund.

  15. Weather takes its tollpublished at 02:11 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2018

Czech qualifier Denisa Allertova became the first player into the last 16 after beating Magda Linette 6-1 6-4 in just one hour and 11 minutes.

But the world 130 found it tough as temperatures soared towards a 40C on Margaret Court Arena.

Allertova said she became disoriented as the extreme heat got to her in the second set. "I felt terrible. I didn't know what was happening at the start of the set," she said after going 3-0 down before regathering herself to win the match.

"It was tough with the weather. I'm glad I came back. I don't know how to say how I am feeling."

Both players are suffering and doing all they can to keep cool. It's not a conventional tennis match. They are standing there hitting the ball to each other and hoping the other one misses so they can get back into the shade. It's survival of the fittest.

I am afraid that tells us that Edmund is getting rather hot and bothered. There was no clarity of thought and he was just hitting out and hoping.

  18. Basilashvili breaks againpublished at 02:09 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2018

    Edmund 7-6 (7-0) 3-6 3-4 Basilashvili*

No, no, no. Basilashvili finds the baseline and then Kyle Edmund goes wide into the tramlines.

A second after getting a break of his own, Kyle Edmund has two break points to fight off.

Wild. Edmund makes a mess of trying to save the first break point. Basilashvili is back in front. It's not great tennis. Both players are struggling in the heat but the Georgian has restored his break.

  20. Edmund breaks backpublished at 02:06 Greenwich Mean Time 19 January 2018

    Got 'em!

Kyle Edmund breaks and is back on serve. He suddenly looks a whole lot happier on the baseline.
