Loving Benoit Paire's meaty beard. It's the kind of facial hair most blokes long to have - cough, my brother... - rather than the sparse shrubbery they actually sprout.

Juan Martin del Potro almost pulls off an outrageous slice at the most acute angle, but it nestles into the tramlines.

Paire holds in the opening game of the second set.

This one is now live on BBC One.

    Barty 5-7 Kasatkina

It's Russia's Daria Kasatkina who has taken the first set over Ash Barty on court three.

After a tight few games, Kasatkina forced the decisive break and then served out the set to love.

Del Portro's serve finally seems to have clicked in, and when he does it is a tremendous serve. Bounces so high and hits the corners. Very difficult to do anything on the return.

Fifth seed Juan Martin del Potro serves out to take the first set in 35 minutes.

Below is perhaps my favourite shot of the championships so far, it helped Benoit Paire break, but the Frenchman still finds himself a set down.

I've just walked to the Centre Court commentary box and passed several different football conversations.

"They'll beat Sweden but lose to Croatia," one steward says to another.

At one of the souvenir kiosks, one worker says "I'll watch it on catch-up."

    But not everyone is bothered.

"I've volunteered to work everyone's breaks," says the lift attendant. "It sounds bad but I don't care about the football."

There are plenty of fans that haven't been able to cram into court two and are watching this early clash on the big screen from Henman Hill.

The baseball-capped Benoit Paire rattles to a hold to force Juan Martin del Potro to serve out the first set. He's asking the question...

Another break point... does no one want to hold in this match?

Juan Martin del Potro has the chance to reestablish a lead in the opening set, and he does with a sweeping forehand winner!

Plenty of spectators cramming into court two to see this one, and they're being treated to a cracker so far.

A third break in a row.

Unsurprisingly it has been a tight start between 17th seed Ashleigh Barty and 14th seed Daria Kasatkina.

The pair have exchanged breaks of serve with Barty holding a 5-4 lead as we head into the business end of the set.

England fan Lorraine will be on Court One watching the tennis when the World Cup match is on but she will also be keeping track of the footy score on her phone.

"I'll follow the score but watch the match later," she says. "It's an opportunity of a lifetime to come to Wimbledon."

But she does wonder why they are not showing the football here.

"It's the All England Club - the clue is in the title," she laughs.

    Del Potro 3-3 Paire*

    What a shot!

Benoit Paire looked beaten after a Juan Martin del Potro backhand clipped the tape and dropped short, but the swiveling Frenchman nonchalantly flicks it on target with his back to the net - and Del Potro thumps wide.

Two break points for the world number 47.

He takes the second with a deep backhand to break back immediately.

"I've been testing out the BBC iplayer," England fan Mike Gowing says. And so far it is working so he reckons he will be able to watch the football on his phone.

He and his wife Jane say it's a shame you can't watch it on a big screen at the All England Club but understand the thinking behind the decision not to show it.

"It would be disrespectful as it is a tennis tournament," says Jane. "But they should show it in the park over the road."
