Not only did Rafael Nadal have his right wrist strapped up, he also had his left bandaged too.

Of course he had to retire from Roland Garros two years ago with a wrist problem, then missed the next three months as a result.

    Worrying signs?

    *Nadal 4-6 0-0 Schwartzman

Schwartzman puffs out his cheeks and shakes his hands out. Adrenaline pumping...

Somehow he meets a thumping Nadal crosscourt forehand, but the Spaniard gently tips it over the tape to take the point.

    40-0.

Trusty sweatband back on. Rafa jogs to the service line, bounces the fluff about 12 times and then rattles down a corker of a first serve.

But Schwartzman engages the Spaniard, and is only undone by a whipping Nadal forehand down the line.

    15-0.

Marin Cilic 4-3 Juan Martin del Potro*

Marin Cilic versus Juan Martin del Potro could be a long match.

After seven games of the opening set, we are still on serve. Neither player has even had a break point. The aces count is 6-3 in Cilic's favour.

Well, Rafa. You've not found yourself in this spot for a while...

The Spaniard has his right wrist wrapped by the trainer. A serious amount of bandage going on there.

Diego Schwartzman trots back out of the dressing room draped in a towel. Probably been pinching himself to believe that first set just happened.

That's the first set Diego Schwartzman has ever taken off Rafael Nadal on clay - and ends the Spaniard's winning streak of 37 successive sets at Roland Garros.

Bjorn Borg's record of 41 remains intact.

Play is halted due to a medical emergency in the stand opposite the umpire. Concern all around as Chatrier staff tend to the man.

Schwartzman waits in front of the stand, trying to see if everything is OK, while a concerned Nadal also looks over.

After a few minutes, the man is helped out to a sympathetic round of applause. Let's hope he is fine.

Marin Cilic 3-2 Juan Martin del Potro*

We are still on serve over on Court Suzanne-Lenglen in the men's quarter-final between Marin Cilic and Juan Martin del Potro.

With both men being 6ft 6in, we were expecting some big serving and we've had already had five aces - three from Cilic and two from Del Potro already.

Well, at set point, Diego Schwartzman pulls out of a serve mid-toss and beckons the medical team to someone in the crowd.

It looks like a supporter is going to be treated.

Schwartzman forces Nadal to go long with a backhand. Break point saved.

    Back to deuce.

And then the Argentine picks out a massive overhead winner, watching it out of the Parisian sky and driving it into the clay beyond Nadal.

    Set point.

It's like someone's pressed the reset button on Rafa Nadal and he's rebooted without a forehand.

Another awkward attempt comes off the frame and into no man's land, before Schwartzman doubles his advantage with a cute drop at the net.
