Cori Gauff speaking on BBC Two: "Honestly I don't know how to feel. It's the first time I have ever cried after winning a match, I don't know how to explain how I feel.

"I definitely had to tell myself to stay calm, I had to remind myself that the lines are the same lines, the courts are the same size and after every point I told myself 'stay calm'."

On what idol Venus Williams told her after the match: "She told me congratulations and keep going, she said good luck and I told her thanks for everything she did.

"I wouldn't be here if it wasn't for her - I told her she was so inspiring and I've always wanted to tell her that but I've never had the guts to before.

"My parent will be super happy, my dad was jumping up every time I won a point, I'm so happy they spent all their time on me and my brothers and making sure we're successful.

"I never thought this would happen. I'm literally living my dream right now.

"I'm really happy Wimbledon gave me the chance to play, I never thought i would get this far."

  2. Can Edmund finish it this time?published at 19:36 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    *Edmund 6-4 6-4 5-4 Munar

Munar is not ready to leave Centre Court yet, and who can blame him? He might not get back here again. His second serve has been a weakness all match, but he gets enough of his first serves in to hold out and drag the third set into a 10th game. Edmund to serve for the match, again, next...

  3. Next up for Gauff....published at 19:34 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Williams 4-6 4-6 Gauff

Cori "Coco" Gauff faces Magdalena Rybarikova in the next round.

The 2017 semi-finalist, who is only...er...15 years older, produced a shock herself earlier in the day with victory over 10th seed Aryna Sabalenka.

  4. This one is not over yetpublished at 19:32 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Edmund 6-4 6-4 5-3 *Munar

Munar is still getting pretty much everything back, right until the end. At 30-30 and deuce he is still running everything down, and he gets his reward.

Edmund saves one break point, but not a second. He dumps a cross-court forehand into the net, and the Spaniard has one of his breaks back.

    We've seen something incredible.

Just 15 years of age, her very first Grand Slam main draw, a first Wimbledon main draw, against a Venus Williams who played a good match - she didn't quite have enough.

But it's all about Cori Gauff and I think we're seeing a champion in the making here.

  7. Edmund serves for a place in round twopublished at 19:27 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    *Edmund 6-4 6-4 5-2 Munar

After one hour and 59 minutes, Edmund has a match point – but just like in the first and second sets, Munar is not going quietly. He is into the net to save it, puts away a forehand and draws an error from the Brit... who will have to serve this one out.

    Williams 4-6 4-6 Gauff

    Yes.

Tears follow from the Atlanta-born 15-year-old after Williams finds the net.

This was a truly, truly exceptional display.

She acknowledges her parents watching inside Court One, who acknowledge her back.

Gauff, head bowed, receives the applause from the volunteers, who are about the same age as her, as she leaves the court.

    Pressure?!

"No mate," says Gauff as she smacks down a 108mph serve.

The teen then brings up her fourth match point.

  11. Edmund one game away from round twopublished at 19:22 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Edmund 6-4 6-4 5-1 *Munar

We have not seen much of Munar's temper - in fact 'Jimbo' has not reminded me of Jimmy Connors very much in any way... apart from his determination, perhaps. That is not enough on its own, though. Edmund holds again, easily.

  12. Another match point Gauffpublished at 19:22 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Williams 4-6 4-5 Gauff*

Now a third match point as Williams goes long.

    Can the 15-yar-old convert?

Nooooo! She slips near the baseline and hands Williams the point.

    Now it's advantage Williams.

    One more match point.

Williams, under pressure, lands one right in the perfect spot to leave Gauff floundering.

    15s each.

Gauff then produces an ace. Yes, an ace.

    30-15.

    40-15.

This is truly incredible from the 15-year-old.

  15. Munar delays the inevitablepublished at 19:18 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    *Edmund 6-4 6-4 4-1 Munar

Munar steadies himself, and finds some big serves that help him get off the mark in this set. Edmund is still a double-break up though.

Gauff is one game away now from an enormous Wimbledon upset.

She has got this. She didn't even mean to be on tour yet but she has come fully formed. You don't see these sorts of performances from 15-year-olds.

  19. Munar cannot rediscover his sparkle.published at 19:17 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Edmund 6-4 6-4 4-0 *Munar

If Munar's Wimbledon debut is going to last more than two hours he needs to do something on the Edmund serve. Sadly, he does not have the weapons to do any damage, and his early sparkle has long since deserted him.

His solitary break of serve, in Edmund's first service game, seems a long time ago now.
