At the start of the sixth game of this set, Naomi Osaka cast a forlorn figure on Centre Court, she didn’t look happy at all with the way this was going.

Shouts of “come on Naomi” peppered the game between points, but it doesn’t seem to be helping. She looks lost out there.

That missed volley at break point from Osaka could well be a pivotal moment in this match as Putintseva grabs that game and only needs two more for round two and the biggest upset of the day so far.

Break of serve? Osaka is poised at the net for a crucial volleyed winner, but skews the shot, a rare failure at the net, and we're back to deuce.

    *Putintseva 7-6 (7-4) 3-2 Osaka

Naomi Osaka is now in huge trouble and facing a day-one exit. She is broken and her body language is not looking good at all.

The decisive point went to Hawk-Eye, with it going against her as it was only just in on the side, much to Putintseva's delight. She dances off with the break and a 3-2 lead in the second.

  7. 'Of course you don't remember'published at 16:55 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

Watch as sixth seed Alexander Zverev starts to lose his cool as he is broken to go two games down in the third set after sharing the opening two sets in his match with Jiri Vesely.

Zverev is now two sets to one down.

  8. Postpublished at 16:51 British Summer Time 1 July 2019

    Putintseva 7-6 (7-4) 2-2 Osaka*

Osaka, the first Japanese player to ever top the female world rankings although she has now dropped to second, is just looking frustrated and unhappy. A backhand that goes long to give Putintseva another game does little to improve her mood.

That was delightful movement, and maybe that's the way forward for Naomi Osaka - forward is the way forward.

If she's doubting her ability to play shots from the back as she appears then that is the answer.
