Baby boomer: Martina Navratilova with Martina Hingis would have been the greatest ladies doubles of all time. Martina the younger was the cleverest doubles player I have ever seen, especially her net play and Martina the elder had everything.

Bernard Tomic racked up the sort of record that you wouldn't want on your resume yesterday.

The world number 76 lost his first round match against Jo Wilfried Tsonga 2-6 1-6 4-6 in just 58 minutes - the shortest men's singles match at Wimbledon since 2004.

And his post-match press conference was similarly abrupt.

“Do you wish you had more consistency?” he was asked.

“Not really.” he replied.

There was a moment of Wimbledon history late on the second day as the new roof on Court One got its first use.

The upgrades to the second show court at the All England Club were finished over the winter and its newest facility was needed to allow Donna Vekic and Alison Riske to finish their first-round match.

Bad light descended over SW19 at around 21:10 BST, with the match tied at 5-5 in the deciding set.

A healthy crowd remained in the stadium and were forced into hand clapping and ironic cheers as the roof stopped moving on several occasions.

However, play resumed at 21:25 BST, allowing the conclusion of the match under the lights, with Riske claiming the win against the 22nd seed.

Andy Murray brings the hustle and scurry, Serena Williams brings the thunder and the fury.

Ukrainian eighth seed Elina Svitolina will be heading out onto court three soon for her second-round match against Russian Margarita Gasparyan - aiming to gain revenge for her defeat against the same opponent in Birmingham last month.

The former world number one has struggled with a knee injury for the past few months, but insists she is fit and ready as she looks to make an impact at Wimbledon, having only progressed past the second round once.

"It hasn't been easy for the past months because of my injury but it is getting better and I feel much better," she told BBC Sport at the annual WTA Summer Party in Knightsbridge.

"At the moment I'm pain free so it allows me to train better and harder so that is a good sign."

Did you consider skipping the grass-court season to fully recover? "There were a few thoughts about it, but not many. This is Wimbledon and you always want to play here!"

How long would you queue to watch Andy Murray?

Well, Suzanne Pyefinch has been camping on Wimbledon Park since Saturday evening and is now third in the queue for tickets for tomorrow.

“We have done this every year for the past 34 years,” she says.

“We’re here supporting Andy Murray, we’re delighted he’s playing the doubles and even more delighted he’s playing mixed with Serena. It’s fantastic, amazing!”

Six years ago today, the British number one played Fernando Verdasco on Centre Court.

The Spaniard won the first two sets and Andy Murray, after defeat by Roger Federer in the previous year's final, seemed doomed to another heart-breaker defeat.

But then he rallied...

A seismic 4-6 3-6 6-1 6-4 7-5 victory was as close a shave as Murray was to endure on his way to his debut title.
