    Djokovic 6-3 0-0 Kudla*

They kick the second set off with the longest rally of the match so far - 18 shots. Djokovic comes out on top of that one, but Kudla takes control of the game with the lightest of drop shots.

Djokovic pins him back to deuce a couple of times then gets break point with rapid reactions at the net.

It was borderline embarrassing for Denis Kudla for the first five games. But now he's in a tennis match.

The problem for Denis is that Novak Djokovic isn't even playing his best tennis yet. Denis will need to improve as well and keep that big serve going.

  11. Game and first set Djokovicpublished at 18:55 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    Djokovic 6-3 Kudla

He took a bit of a detour, but Novak Djokovic doesn't have too much trouble closing out the first set in the end.

The world number one serves an ace out wide, then repeats the same serve and Kudla's forehand return lands long.

The American had a slight surge for a while there but that didn't stop Djokovic wrapping up the first set in 27 minutes.

    *Djokovic 5-3 Kudla

We've just had a few moments of magic from Kudla but it's all gone a bit erratic again now.

And erratic play does not a world number one beat.

The American double faults, serves an ace, double faults again and looks to have held when Djokovic's forehand is called long but the Serbian challenges and it was on the line.

Djokovic misses a smash, though, and Kudla eventually gets his hold.

Doubt a pair of players with more silverware than the British Museum need too much practice together.

Nevertheless, Andy Murray and Serena Williams will want to find some on-court understanding before going on-court for the mixed doubles.

"We will try to get on the court together before we play," the Scot says.

"We spoke about that today, but tomorrow we are both playing so maybe we can the day after."

    Djokovic 5-2 Kudla*

Djokovic saves the first break point with an ace, the second with a forehand winner but he cannot save the third!

A bit of a lapse in concentration from the Serbian and Kudla gets himself into this match. The crowd loves it.

    Wozniacki 7-6 (7-5) Kudermetova

The first set was a 56-minute epic, but it goes the way of Caroline Wozniacki in a tie-break.

That was the first completed set that Wozniacki has played in this tournament after her first-round opponent Sara Sorribes Tormo retired in the first set because of injury.

Well, well, well. Kudla's smile stays on his face as Djokovic attempts a serve and volley and leaves the court wide open for the American to go 30-0 up.

And a double fault brings up three break points.
