  1. Kudla wins a gamepublished at 18:44 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    *Djokovic 5-1 Kudla

The hill is still packed with people enjoying this one on the big screen in the evening sunshine.

Kudla eventually gets one up on Djokovic. The Serbian thinks he's hit a winning drop-shot but the world number 111 is too speedy. If nothing else Kudla, you can take that home with you.

He smiles as Djokovic cannot return his 128 mph serve. Kudla has won a game!

The world number one will serve for the set next.

  2. 'Making mincemeat out of him'published at 18:41 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    *Djokovic 5-0 Kudla

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

Novak Djokovic is just sizing Denis Kudla up and making mincemeat out of him early in this game.

Djokovic is abusing him right now. He's four games up after 12 minutes.

Not much to say about that one.

Good serving. Djokovic holds to love. Again.

What a talent. Eighteen-year-old Felix Auger Aliassime is one set away from the third round at Wimbledon.

He's two sets to one up and celebrates with a solid fist pump at the net.

It's fast approaching 19:00 BST, yet there is still SO much tennis to come before the day is out. Happy days!

  5. Djokovic breaks againpublished at 18:39 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    *Djokovic 4-0 Kudla

Uh oh. Kudla winds up for a big forehand... and whacks it into the net. That gives Djokovic three break points.

The first is saved as the world number one's backhand lands long. On the next point, Djokovic's backhand goes into the net but third time's the charm as he comes to the net and taps the ball out of Kudla's reach to break again.

Some nerves from the American perhaps?

  6. Game and second set Tipsarevicpublished at 18:37 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    Anderson 6-4 6-7 (5-7) Tipsarevic

Who would have thought world 288 Janko Tipsarevic would be such hard work for fourth seed and last year's finalist Kevin Anderson - but he has been.

A double fault brings up two set points in the tie-break. Anderson saves one with an ace but then returns Tipsarevic's kicking second serve into the net.

    We are level.

    Slobodan Maricic
    BBC Serbia at Wimbledon

Li, who is 23 years old, also carries this Serbian red, blue and white flag with him to tournaments, and it has been signed by Novak, Dusan Lajovic and Janko Tipsarevic.

Meeting Novak at the ATP Tour Finals in London, where Li studies, was a "nervous" experience, he says. "But the greatest wish of my life came true."

  9. 'I learned Serbian because of Novak'published at 18:35 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    Djokovic 3-0 Kudla*

    Slobodan Maricic
    BBC Serbia at Wimbledon

"Let's go, Nole," says a fan in very good Serbian.

The fan is sat on Centre Court, watching Novak Djokovic's opening match against Philipp Kohlschreiber.

That voice belongs to Jiaxi Li. He's from China.

Li has started using a language app to learn Serbian - all because he loves Novak - and he plans to take a course to study more.

"I can say 'go, Nole' and 'let's go' and I learned 'dad,' because Nole wrote it to Australia's 2016 camera," he says with a smile.

"Although there are some Chinese fans who even know the hymn of Serbia...!"

  10. Djokovic takes a three-game leadpublished at 18:35 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    Djokovic 3-0 Kudla*

It actually looked like Kudla was holding his own in that last game, but if you give Djokovic the slimmest of opportunities he'll take it.

And the Serbian doesn't give any chances away either. He serves an ace out wide to hold to love.

  11. 'Kudla looking tight'published at 18:33 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    *Djokovic 2-0 Kudla

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

Denis Kudla is looking understandably tight here early on.

And look who's there to take advantage, the number one seed.

  13. Djokovic breakspublished at 18:33 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    *Djokovic 2-0 Kudla

Kudla serves up an ace of his own (131mph!), but then immediately double faults to bring up 30-30.

He looks as though he's followed it up with another ace, but it's out by millimetres. Life is a rollercoaster, as they say.

Suddenly Djokovic has break point. The world number one brings Kudla to the net and the American hits the ball straight into it. Ominous start.

  14. 'Novak is like a human backboard'published at 18:30 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

To me, Novak Djokovic is like a human backboard - he just gets everything back.

I'd try to bring him into the net where he isn't as comfortable but it depends on your game.

Very few people match up against him well - you just have to play with a lot of energy and hope for the best.

  15. 'Novak can win on any surface'published at 18:29 British Summer Time 3 July 2019

    Boris Becker
Three-time Wimbledon champion on BBC TV

Novak Djokovic fell away a few years ago because I think he got a little bored - he won four majors in a row - he felt like he'd done it all.

But now he's got his mojo back and he's still in the race for the records. He can win on any surface which is what makes him so dangerous.

Not a bad opening game for Djokovic.

He serves up two aces and Kudla puts a forehand into the net to give the Serbian a simple hold.

Kyle Edmund has to take a good look at his injury now because he can't carry it forever.

I think Kyle has had a hard time coping with pressure after the Australian Open and then the physical problems came. I think he needs to take a few weeks off and be with the right people ahead of the hard court season which is where he plays his best tennis.
