  1. Gauff saves break point to holdpublished at 17:36 British Summer Time 5 July 2019

    Gauff 2-1 Hercog*

Hercog goes for another lob but this one is long. Break point saved.

A blistering cross-court backhand from Gauff does the trick on the next point and the teenager closes out the game with a speedy serve.

    *Djokovic 7-5 6-7 (5-7) 4-1 Hurkacz

A poor backhand volley from Djoko near the net is picked up and dispatched express-delivery by Hubi.

    40-30.

Sadly his good work is undone by a poor backhand.

    *Gauff 1-1 Hercog

Gauff raises a hand in the air as Hercog lobs her. Nothing she could do about that.

A backhand into the net makes the score 30-30. The American looks perfectly calm, but wonder what's going on in her head. There's been a lot of noise around her this week.

She double faults and is facing break point.

    *Gauff 1-1 Hercog

It's a much smoother start for Hercog as the Slovenian holds to love.

She may not be used to playing on Centre, but Hercog has played in 55 Grand Slam main draw matches before today. This is Gauff's third.

    *Djokovic 7-5 6-7 (5-7) 3-1 Hurkacz

Djokovic goes a for a tweener and the ball finds the other side of the court, sadly for the Serb it went under the netting.

A good hold for the Hurricane.

  6. 'Smart to limit Gauff playing time'published at 17:31 British Summer Time 5 July 2019

    Gauff 1-0 Hercog*

    Tracy Austin
Two-time Grand Slam champion on BBC TV

I think it's very smart from the WTA that Gauff can't play more than 10 tournaments between her 15th and 16th birthdays and they keep adding a few until it's unlimited when she turns 18.

  7. 'Hurkacz must dig deep'published at 17:30 British Summer Time 5 July 2019

    Djokovic 7-5 6-7 (5-7) 3-0 Hurkacz*

    John McEnroe
Three-time Wimbledon singles champion on BBC TV

This young man is learning on the job and he's going to have to dig deeper than he ever has to figure this one out now.

    Djokovic 7-5 6-7 (5-7) 3-0 Hurkacz*

Djokovic just brought out a 2l jar of strawberry jam, scooped out all the contents out and spread it on that jammy shot which appeared to be going out before hitting the cord and dropping in for a winner.

    The four-time champ holds.

  9. Gauff holdspublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 5 July 2019

    Gauff 1-0 Hercog*

Gauff looks a bit tight - fair enough.

She hits a forehand wide to bring up 30-30. But Hercog isn't exactly in her rhythm either and hits the ball into the net. Guaff gets a round of applause from her dad Corey in return for her hold.

The new balls have got an extra zip and it's all happening a bit quick for Hurkacz right now.

Margie: Great match on between Djokovic and Hurkacz. Very tight sets, awesome rallies , 1 set all. Quality tennis.

  17. Postpublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 5 July 2019

    Djokovic 7-5 6-7 (5-7) 1-0 Hurkacz*

Great performance by "Hurricane" Hurkacz in that second set, but Djokovic is a past master at throwing a bucket of sand on euphoria.

    The number one seed holds.

  18. Making historypublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 5 July 2019

    Gauff v Hercog

Gauff is the youngest player to reach the last 32 at Wimbledon since fellow American Jennifer Capriati, who reached the semi-finals in 1991, also aged 15.

The teenager is only eligible to play 10 tournaments at professional level between her 15th and 16th birthdays so she made a good decision accepting a qualifying wildcard at the All England Club.

Gauff has quickly become a crowd favourite at Wimbledon. Expect a lot of “Come on Coco”s on Centre this evening.

Coco Gauff has 20 years in front of her so there is no pressure there!

She has such an extreme grip with her forehand that she hits her backhand with the same side of the racquet. The grip change is so much less, she's already there and doesn't have to re-grip.

It’s filling up - this is the match they were all waiting for today.
