Orry Jardine: Some outstanding net play by Hurkacz there.

Zach Kingsbury: COME ON HURKACZ!!!! One of the young guns who has come up under the radar. His game could win him big tournaments for sure. One to watch. Watch Djok keep increasing those ball bounces now though...

  2. Gauff's route to the third roundpublished at 17:19 British Summer Time 5 July 2019

    Gauff v Hercog

In the first round, Coco Gauff beat one of her heroes – Venus Williams.

In the second round the American qualifier looked just as composed as she beat Magdalena Rybarikova in straight sets.

Not bad for her first Grand Slam main draw appearance.

Now, Gauff – ranked 313th in the world – faces Slovenian world number 60 Polona Hercog.

The 15-year-old is given a warm welcome on Centre Court, but she's got her headphones in so not sure she heard it.

For Novak it's a little bit mystifying, frustrating.

But let's enjoy the opportunity to speak about this young man from Poland and how well he has stepped up to the plate.

Hurkacz has kept positive, he's intense, the crowd are loving his attitude and he's been rewarded for it.

    Halep 6-3 6-1 Azarenka

Simon Halep speaking to BBC: "It hasn't been as easy as the score shows. I felt really great on court. She is a tough opponent.

"I gave everything I had and I was confident. The first two games were not easy but I feel better and I am looking forward to the next one.

"My coach is going to watch this match [between Coco Gauff and Polona Hercog]. I will recover my body and just chill. I have a day off. I don't look at the draw. I just take it match by match."

I believe Simona Halep has it in her to win Wimbledon. I do feel she can be more aggressive at times. To win she'll have to be more aggressive and serve better but she is such a big fighter and great mover she can make anybody doubt themselves on the day.

    *Djokovic 7-5 6-7 (5-7) Hurkacz

Another delicate shot from Djoko has Hubi stumbling.

The Pole seems to have been flummoxed when Djoko's shot hits the net but he presses the 'unflummox' button and hits a great passing winner.

He then takes his first chance with a hammer-blow of a winner at the net.

Cue huge cheers and a massive fist pump from the 6ft 5in player.

Djokovic has now dropped a set at Wimbledon.

    Halep 6-3 6-1 Azarenka

In the end, it proved fairly comfortable for Simona Halep. There were just too many errors in Victoria Azarenka's game.

The seventh seed is through to the fourth round.

This is tasty. A rattled Djokovic is growing very frustrated by his young opponent.

This crowd is like a football crowd. The noise is something else. Fans are jumping out of their seats, hugging each other, arms slung over shoulders. Bonkers.

Are we allowed to swear on the BBC live text?!!

How the flip did Hubi get to that.

Just when it seemed the Pole was down and out he produces the splits and volleys a winner at the net.

That was just for a mini-break back.

    Djoko then double faults.

    Mini-break II for Hubi.

And somehow, for all the brilliance from his opponent, a couple of errors at key moments sends us into a tie-break which you sense may determine the match.
