    Evans 2-0 Sousa*

Well, Dan Evans isn't messing around on Court One. He looks comfortable in the exchanges and is making Joao Sousa work on his own serve.

And that's a sublime backhand winner, just kissing the chalk on its way through. Deuce.

    Lindstedt/Ostapenko 6-1 1-0 Gauff/Clarke*

A month after Coco Gauff was born in March 2004, Robert Lindstedt achieved his highest singles ranking - 309.

Meanwhile, Gauff saves break point with a smash at the net on Jay Clarke's serve.

    *Federer 3-3 Pouille

Pouille is still serving well. Fed is misfiring - by his standards - on his backhand. He's dumped a couple into the net now.

  5. Evans holdspublished at 17:05 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    Evans 2-0 Sousa*

That point was set up perfectly by Joao Sousa and there for the taking, only for the world number 69 to rifle it into the tape. Dan Evans double faults but pulls off a wonderful lob to set up a teasing volleyed winner and consolidates his opening break with a good hold.

Federer fever has returned to Centre Court with a large smattering of Swiss red t-shirts and various paraphernalia with Roger's face splattered over them.

They worship him here. Sorry Lucas Pouille, but the cheers won't be for you.

    *Evans 1-0 Sousa

Joao Sousa, baseball cap proudly donned back to front, becomes the aggressor as he fires in a fizzing forehand, but the Portuguese is too hasty with the next effort and finds the tramlines.

A big ace from Dan Evans edges him in front. 30-15.

  9. "A high quality match"published at 17:03 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    Federer 3-2 *Pouille

Pouille's sparring session with the Swiss is working out well for him so far, with the two trading punches from the baseline and the Frenchman landing a couple to get to 30-all.

A sniff of a break, but that's as close as the world number 28 gets. Fed follows in some big shots and he has soon held again.

"It's been a high quality match so far from both players," says Boris Becker.

    *Evans 1-0 Sousa

Tad long from the British number three, and Joao Sousa saves after a lengthy rally.

Sousa comes rushing to the net again, but Dan Evans is equal to the short ball and whips it beyond his stranded opponent like a David Beckham free-kick. Top bins.

This time he completes the break. A perfect start for the 29-year-old.

    Evans 0-0 Sousa*

Tidy from the Portuguese. Wriggling towards the tape and dishing up a neat volley.

But Dan Evans fires a meaty forehand when Joao Sousa tries the trick again.

    Break point.

  14. Postpublished at 16:59 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    *Federer 2-2 Pouille

Ouch... a double-fault leaves Pouille in a hole at 0-30. What has he got? Quite a lot, actually.

A smart drop-volley and two big serves get the Frenchman back on track - "that's more like it," says Boris Becker - but Fed is in at the net to close out a longish rally and force deuce.

These are the pressure situations that Becker was wondering whether Pouille could cope with earlier but so far, he is rising to the occasion. A nice putaway then a backhand into the net from Fed leaves us all-square at 2-2.

    Evans 0-0 Sousa*

Disco Dan Evans dances round Joao Sousa's serves and thumps down a winner. The Brit gets the better of the next rally, too. 0-30.

  16. Postpublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

Court One is looking a bit sparse for the start of this one. Joao Sousa will serve first.

  17. 'Konta dismantled Stephens' game'published at 16:56 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    Stephens 6-3 4-6 1-6 Konta

    Annabel Croft
Former British number one on BBC One

Sport is all about problem solving, and finding a way through difficult moments. Konta hung around - and she lingered long enough to make things tough.

She started to be a bit more aggressive. There was an awful lot to admire - so much of it was her mental strength. She solved it by herself and by the end of the match she had dismantled Sloane Stephens' game.

She rode the crest of a wave and everything started to flow. She upped the level and was playing beautiful tennis. It was a level above the tennis that took her to the semi-finals a couple of years ago.

  18. Play suspended on court 12 for a medical emergencypublished at 16:54 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

The men's third round match between Jan-Lennard Struff and Mikhail Kukushkin was suspended because of a medical emergency in the crowd.

Kukushkin was leading by 2-1 sets to one when play was halted.

Spectators were asked to leave the court for a short while but have now been allowed back in, with play set to resume at 5pm.

    Federer 2-1 *Pouille

Another quick-fire service game from Federer - Pouille had a pop at one of his serves and it came off, but that is the only point he has picked up as receiver so far in this match.

  20. 'Incredibly tough'published at 16:53 British Summer Time 6 July 2019

    Stephens 6-3 4-6 1-6 Konta

Johanna Konta speaking on BBC TV: "I just kept plugging away more than anything. She was playing incredibly well and I was fully prepared to not be coming back in that second set because she really was playing well. I was really pleased I could keep battling, I was pleased I could mix things up and I did a good job in getting her out of that zone.

"It was incredibly tough, she's an incredibly good player and at her best she's very, very tough to play. As you could see, I really had to work hard to find way into that match and get my level up to hers. I'm really pleased I could do that and keep the pressure on.

"Every round is trickier. I doubt any match is easier than the one before. I'm just really pleased to have come this far. I'm trying to calm down because it was a tough match but I'm really pleased with the tennis I'm playing."

On facing Petra Kvitova next: "I haven't played her in a little while. It's a good opportunity to play against one of the best players in the world. That's the position I work to be in and I'm really pleased I could give myself that opportunity."
