    Griekspoor 3-6 2-3 Zverev*

German fourth seed Alexander Zverev isn't having it all his own way on Court One, but he remains in control of his match against the Netherlands' Tallon Griekspoor.

The world number six is a set up and leads 3-2 in the second, though he did hold a 3-0 lead after a double break of serve before Griekspoor hit back.

A latest hold by the world number 124 has brought him back within one game of Zverev as he seeks to level things up.

It's a fairy tale that Suarez Navarro is out here and we have a match between two women who realise there are more important things than winning a tennis match.

  3. 'You're wasting our time!' - fan tells Pairepublished at 14:24 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    Schwartzman 6-3 6-4 6-0 Paire

Benoit Paire has been up to his old tricks. The colourful Frenchman is well known for his disciplinary problems and was involved in another row during his straight-set defeat by Argentine ninth seed Diego Schwartzman.

At 30-0 to Schwartzman in the final game, Paire was given a warning for unsporting conduct by umpire Mohamed Lahyani for not trying. That led to the annoyed Frenchmen walking off court and sitting down on his chair.

"You wanna play? Call the physio - I have pain," Paire told the umpire.

"Benoit, this cannot happen. I told you to play your best," Lahyani replied.

The episode drew whistles and jeers from the Wimbledon crowd, with fans heard saying "You're wasting everyone's time!" and "Come on!"

Paire quickly returned to the baseline, feigning exerted effort with some groaning as he lost the next two points and the match.

As a side note, I like how the sponsorless Paire is sticking to his recent fashion of playing in a shirt from the tournament shop.

    Barty 6-1 Suarez Navarro*

There's not much that Barty did wrong in that set, she was perfect on break point conversions, net approaches, good job on her first serve percentage and winning almost every point when she got that first serve in.

No real resistance from Suarez Navarro. It made for a very one-sided set.

  6. Barty's 'special anniversary' outfitpublished at 14:19 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    Barty 6-1 Suarez Navarro

Ashleigh Barty is wearing an outfit based on the famous dress fellow Australian Evonne Goolagong wore 50 years ago when she won the first of her two Wimbledon titles.

Barty said: “It’s a really special anniversary for a lot of Australians, but for indigenous Australians in particular I think this is a really special one.

“For me to be able to wear an outfit inspired by Evonne’s iconic scallop dress is really amazing. I wanted to make sure she was OK with it. I called her and asked her. She was really excited.

“That made me feel a lot more comfortable knowing her favourite dress, probably her most iconic dress, is something that inspired me and inspired our generation of indigenous youth. I hope my version can do the same for the next generation of indigenous youth coming forward.”

Suarez Navarro is in danger of losing her serve again. A forehand goes wide and that takes us to deuce, before a brilliantly-placed looping forehand right in the corner from Barty brings up break point.

Suarez Navarro probably has the ability to play a little more similarly to Barty than other players.

All the players are happy to see her back, but it has not been easy for players facing her. Sloane Stephens spoke about how hard and emotional it was (at the French Open)

Here's how things stand on day two at Wimbledon as the rain once again disrupts play at the All England Club.

In the men's draw, fourth seed Alexander Zverev leads 6-3 1-0 against Tallon Griekspoor, while Canada's 10th seed Denis Shapovalov is into a fourth set against Philipp Kohlschreiber, leading 6-4 4-6 6-3 5-6.

In the women's draw, top seed Ashleigh Barty leads 2-1 in the opening set against Carla Suarez Navarro, and 26th seed Petra Martic is tied at one set all against Varvara Gracheva but leads 3-0 in the third.

With the same speed they went on, the Centre Court covers come off. Probably took the same amount of time it takes Usain Bolt to dash 100 metres.
