*Evans 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 3-3 Lopez
The Feliciano Lopez serve is working now, but when Dan Evans can engage the Spaniard he's enjoying some success. Unfortunately for the British number one, he can only do so one one of those as Lopez smokes an ace down the T to hold.
Buzarnescu* 5-7 4-3 Williams
Venus Williams and Mihaela Buzarnescu are on course for a third set decider on court three in their first round contest, as things stand.
American Williams claimed the first set 7-5, but Romania's Buzarnescu has responded in the second where she finds herself a break up.
Both players have had opportunities to improve their position, though, and Buzarnescu will have to keep her focus here as she prepares to serve at 4-3 up.
Evans 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 3-2 Lopez*
Feliciano Lopez squats down near the baseline between points, looking to stretch something out - he had been clutching his thigh earlier. Dan Evans is looking very mobile as he reaches for a smart volley and then motors his way to a love hold.

Lopez has rediscovered his first serve after it went AWOL in the second set... and as long as he's got that, he's got some hope..
*Evans 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 2-2 Lopez
A much more straightforward hold for the veteran Spaniard, not dropping a point as he levels up in the third.
Evans 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 2-1 Lopez*
Ace. Double fault. Dan Evans isn't making work of this game but can afford a wry smile and eventually gets over the line to hold.
*Evans 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 1-1 Lopez
Ooh. Now that one was a real framer, as Dan Evans thuds a backhand into the bleachers. Deuce.
*Evans 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 1-1 Lopez
That's lovely. Not sure it came off the bat completely cleanly but it looked great, a backhand from Dan Evans that skids away off the turf. The British number one loses the next point as Feliciano Lopez toys with him over a forehand, and can afford a giggle. Not quite as smiley when Lopez makes it 30-30.
*Evans 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 1-1 Lopez
A scuttling Evans reaches a slapped Lopez volley but can only bat it wide and the Spaniard follows up with a wrist-rattling serve that Evans prods back to be swatted away with ease. A good hold.
Evans 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 1-0 Lopez*
Things just aren't quite clicking for Feliciano Lopez today, there have been a few unforced errors that have looked particularly sloppy - the sort us mere mortals are used to when hacking around on the local park courts. Dan Evans cruises to a hold to kick this third set off.
*Mertens 6-1 6-3 Dart

Former British number one on BBC TV
There were signs that Dart was getting back in there, but then Mertens just used her experience with these kind of matches. She made the right balls at the right time.
Dart's got some good tennis in her and this is another experience. Back to the practice courts now.

Kyle Edmund has just joined the crowd on Court Two.
The Brit is missing Wimbledon for the first time since 2012 as he continues his recovery from a long-standing knee injury.
Mertens 6-1 6-3 Dart

Not to be today for British number three Harriet Dart.
After saving one match point with a chalk-puffing backhand down the line, an overhead into the net tees up a second for Elise Mertens.
And that goes with a forehand into the net from the Brit.
The greater pedigree of 13th seed Mertens told, although I’m sure Dart will feel she didn’t play anywhere near her best.

That was definitely the biggest roar of the day so far from Dan Evans.
Plus some words I couldn’t possibly repeat on here.

All the energy from Evans and the British number one is two-thirds of the way through to the second round.
Never lost a match having a two sets to love lead.
Pliskova 7-5 6-4 Zidansek
Karolina Pliskova has sealed her place in the second round after overcoming an early scare against Tamara Zidansek.
The world number 13 progresses with a straight-set victory over the 2021 French Open semi-finalist after coming back from 5-2 down in the first set to win 7-5 6-4.
Pliskova will face Croatia's Donna Vekic or Russian Anastasia Potapova next.
Evans 7-6 (7-4) 6-2 Lopez
He needs just the one!
Dan Evans gets Feliciano Lopez charging side to side before the 39-year-old sluggishly drags a backhand into the net, and the British number one takes a two-set lead.
Evans 7-6 (7-4) 5-2 Lopez*
That is a wonderful return from Dan Evans, on the backhand side, beyond the tramline, just slicing it around the net stand and leaving Feliciano Lopez unable to pick it up on his way forward.
The Spaniard loops a forehand into the tramlines on the other side and Evans has three set points.

'Come on Daniel' is the call from the crowd.
I suspect only Dan's mum calls him that!
