    Evans 7-6 (7-4) 5-2 Lopez*

A clenched fist pumping in the SW19 sky, Dan Evans is enjoying this now and looking in the mood.

Feliciano Lopez stings another return long and then slices a backhand the same way as Evans holds to back up his break a moment ago.

A break of serve to love and a wry smile from Evans because he knows he's not playing that well. Lopez's equilibrium has been well and truly messed up!

They're saying 18 unforced errors from Lopez... but it feels more than that.

    Mertens 6-1 5-3 Dart*

A ball girl has just arrived with a bunch of bananas. Elise Mertens will hope there isn’t another changeover to eat them.

A double fault allows Harriet Dart to pull the Belgian’s service game to 40-30 and then the Briton lands a winner on the line for deuce.

But a backhand long from Dart, then another wide, lets her opponent off the hook.

Now Dart serves to stay in Wimbledon…

That’s a big break for Dan Evans.

Feliciano Lopez challenged the decision to call his ace out, but Evans knew, waggling his finger.

The British number one is slowly but surely taking control here.

    Evans 7-6 (7-4) 3-2 Lopez*

What was going through Lopez's head there? Looked like he changed his mind on a routine drop shot and ends up cupping it into the net. The Spaniard is chantering away to his team after another miscue and Dan Evans brings up 0-40 - three break points for the British number one!

Lopez's serve is one of his big weapons and he's plied it on the tour for years. Evans is just anticipating, so before the ball is even hit, he's gone with that split step.

That's a big gamble though - if Lopez sees him out of the corner of his eye...

  9. Pliskova takes controlpublished at 12:15 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    Pliskova* 7-5 4-3 Zidansek

After her early struggles, Karolina Pliskova is now in control against Tamara Zidansek.

Having battled back to take the first set from 5-2 down, the Czech is a break up in the second and closing in on a place in the second round at Wimbeldon.

    Evans 7-6 (7-4) 3-2 Lopez*

Dan Evans isn't renowned for being a huge server but he rattles his way to a love hold with a series of efforts that tenderise the strings of Feliciano Lopez. "Come on, Evo", says Evo.

  12. Williams takes the first setpublished at 12:12 British Summer Time 29 June 2021

    Buzarnescu 5-7 Williams

There had been nothing to separate Venus Williams and Romanian Mihaela Buzarnescu deep into the opening set, but it's the American who has made the breakthrough when it matters.

Buzarnescu had five break points, including three in the 11th game of the set, but Williams held to lead 6-5 before taking her second set point opportunity in the following game and taking the first set.

Great play by Dart, loved the dropshots, but Mertens seemed to lose a bit of focus for the first time there. Very interesting.

Hello! Harriet Dart gets one of the breaks back.

That buoys the Court 18 crowd too, with the atmosphere being deathly quiet before.

Make that two games away. A limp break-to-love sees Mertens ease into a 4-1 lead in the second set.

I would say that’s game over. But then remember what we saw Andy Murray do yesterday.

Ok, ok, that’s Andy Murray and he’s incredible. But you never know…

    Mertens 6-1 3-1 Dart*

    Jonathan Jurejko

Dart isn’t getting rattled yet, despite being an uber competitive and - sometimes - quite spiky character.

Not sure if the relative serenity is a good thing or not.

After having a break point in the second game, the Briton instead had her serve broken in the next and is three games away from an early Wimbledon exit.
