  3. Medvedev made to workpublished at 17:19 British Summer Time 5 July 2021

    Medvedev 6-2 5-5 Hurkacz

It's been much more even so far in the second set between Daniil Medvedev and Hubert Hurkacz with both players holding serve so far.

Russian second seed Medvedev has just levelled it up at five games with a service game of high quality but his Polish opponent is showing plenty of fight after surrendering the first set meekly.

  4. 'I will try to stay in the moment'published at 17:16 British Summer Time 5 July 2021

    Gauff 4-6 4-6 Kerber

Here's what Angelique Kerber had to say following that win over Coco Gauff: "I have to say Coco is such a great talented player.

"She has such a great future in front of her. She will play here so many times and maybe one time she will get the title.

"I really enjoy my time here. I really enjoy playing in front of you guys again. That gives me the energy to play my best tennis.

"I will try to play match by match. I'm not looking too much ahead and try to stay in the moment."

While much of the crowd weren't backing her during the match, Kerber certainly gained the love and respect of Centre Court by the end.

Two rippers of cross-court forehands - one in each of the final two games - stretching back, ball leaving her racquet like arrow firing out of bow - grew gasps from the fans.

A warm ovation for both players as they embrace at the net.

    Gauff 4-6 4-6 Kerber

Plenty of praise, deservedly so, for young Coco Gauff from Angelique Kerber in her post-match interview.

  7. Kerber is going to be tough to beatpublished at 17:11 British Summer Time 5 July 2021

    Gauff 4-6 4-6 Kerber

    Chris Bradnam
    BBC Sport commentator at Wimbledon

Kerber fell out of love sometimes with tennis - she's falling back in love with it again.

If she plays like that... she's going to be tough to beat.

Game, set and match Kerberpublished at 17:11 British Summer Time 5 July 2021

    Gauff 4-6 4-6 Kerber

Angelique Kerber lands a belting serve to take her first match point.

That was very, very impressive from the 2018 champion.

On that form, she's going to be very hard to stop...

First of all - it's just one break. Keep going after her shots. Give yourself some margin and hang in there.

I just don't think there's that much between these two.

Ok maybe Kerber will get nervous serving this out... but if you are Gauff, make her earn it.

Coco Gauff must hold to give herself one more shot at breaking Angelique Kerber's serve.

The crowd are willing her on in an attempt to ease some of the growing pressure, and Gauff makes a comfortable hold as Kerber hits out at 15-40.

It's now or never for the American, though, as Kerber gets ready to serve for the match.

A woman in the crowd just took an outstanding catch after Alexander Zverev shanked a ball in her direction.

    10/10 celebration too.

Angelique Kerber knows her way around these courts at the All England Club and came into the tournament having won the Bad Homburg grass-court title in her home country.

Not surprising then she is playing full of confidence. Her returning game has been metronomic.

    *Gauff 4-6 3-5 Kerber

Just a second ace of the match from Kerber saves the first break point, and there are groans around Centre Court as Gauff nets on the next opportunity.

Former world number one Kerber shows what she's made of, holding from 15-40.

Really impressive from the 33-year-old, who is one game from victory!

Now, can Coco Gauff trouble the Kerber serve?

The American is unable to get to 0-30 as she taps into the net, but Kerber hits into the tramlines and the crowd cheer Gauff on as she is handed two break points.

Coco Gauff responds as she must.

The 17-year-old places a volley for 30-0, and Kerber hits wide from the baseline after getting herself on the board.

A perfectly executed forehand seals the hold.

Game, set and match - Golubicpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 5 July 2021

    Keys 6-7 (3-7) 3-6 Golubic

Over on Court 18, there has been a shock in the women's singles as Switzerland's Viktorija Golubic has beaten American 23rd seed Madison Keys 7-6 (7-3) 6-3.

It's the second seeded player that 28-year-old Golubic, ranked 66th in the world, has eliminated after she saw off 29th seed Veronika Kudermetova in the first round.

Before this tournament, Golubic had never been past the third round of any grand slam, losing in that phase of Wimbledon two years ago.

Keys is the third American to lose to Golubic, who meets eighth seed Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic in the last eight.

It is like playing a backboard against Kerber. You can't overpower her because she absorbes the pace, and there have been very few mistakes from the German.

  19. Auger-Aliassime breaks backpublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 5 July 2021

    *Auger-Aliassime 6-4 4-4 Zverev

Alexander Zverev, in almost identical fashion to the first set, he's just let a break lead slip, serving up yet another double fault to give his young opponent three break points.

FAA missed the first but then just basically had to stand there and watched as Zverev's 12th double fault of the match came sailing past him.

    It's back on serve.

    *Gauff 4-6 2-4 Kerber

A ferocious two-handed backhand winner from Kerber, who has a steely look about her as she seeks to dampen Gauff's hopes of launching a comeback in this match.

Gauff will have to wait if she is to manage that, as she nets to surrender Kerber's latest service game.

Two more games required for the German.
