Time for the speeches. First up is Karolina Pliskova, who is overcome by the emotion of losing and wipes away the tears.

"I never cry!" she laughs. Heartfelt 'aaaahs' all round. Even Sue is tempted to give her a consoling hug.

Our own bit of BBC royalty is there too. Sue Barker is compering, as usual, introducing our new Wimbledon champion to the piece of silverware which she will take home.

Barty's smile gleams as much as the Venus Rosewater dish she hoists aloft.

The grounds staff roll out the astroturf quicker than your local landscape gardener. We can't have royalty stepping on grass, can we? The Duke of Kent and Duchess of Cambridge are handing out the honours.

Wherever Evonne Goolagong is watching the match, there will be a broad smile reflecting back off the television screen. And probably a few shouts of 'That's bonza, mate!"

    Tracy Austin
Two-time Grand Slam champion on BBC TV

To win on the 50th anniversary of her idol, Evonne Goolagong Cawley, who she admires so much...

This is so special to share this moment with her team.

She put it out there just a few months ago that she wanted to win Wimbledon.

Pliskova has a lot to be proud of this fortnight.

Ash Barty realises a childhood dream on Centre Court. She's a Wimbledon Champion.

There's a hug for Pliskova, but she's won a second slam title.

She is sat on her haunches and the tears start to flow.

What a spectacular triumph after it looked like it would be such a one-sided final.

What do you do in this moment? Go with instinct! Barty's instinct is to dash towards her box and climb up over the commentary gantry a la Pat Cash.

Aaargh! Which way is it though? Not that way. She abandons one route and scales the opposite side.

She's climbed tennis' Everest! Winning Wimbledon and then getting up to her support team.

    Bone-crunching embraces all round.
