*Evans 6-4 5-6 Giron
A quick hold from Marcos Giron to put the pressure back on Dan Evans.
Evans 6-4 5-5 Giron*
Much better from the British number one, wrong-footing his opponent with a nice change of direction on a forehand from inside the baseline and screaming down a winner to hold.
*Evans 6-4 4-5 Giron
Double fault from the 24th seed, and Evans then can't get to a vicious Giron forehand. 40-30.
*Evans 6-4 4-5 Giron
Dan Evans opts for the serve and volley and gets Marcos Giron screeching across the baseline in vain trying to reach it. The British number one scuttles forward to meet another with a backhand from shoulder height.
Evans has to mix it up with some baseline slice from there but finds his way to 40-0.

It's still a really good return to the court from Dan, to come out with so much intensity and energy.
He is trying to play as he was before the break with an aggressive ball and coming to the net.
It was a great tactic for him before. We are seeing a different player today than we were in the first rounds.
*Evans 6-4 4-5 Giron
A couple of snappy serves from the American, complemented by a lovely deft volley, and he holds.
Evans 6-4 4-4 Giron*
Dan Evans is applying the pressure now, trying to regain some of that momentum he had before the rain delay after breaking back. He engages Marcos Giron in an enduring baseline rally, some 29 shots, and takes the point to make it deuce on the American's serve.
Evans 6-4 4-4 Giron*
Dan Evans completes the hold he was halfway through before the rain break to level up in the second set.
Dan Evans is back out, and the rain has stopped!
OK, we are going to take a breather while we wait for Dan Evans to return for the second set of his match against American Marcos Giron. The British number one is currently a set to the good but that match has been suspended because of the rain...

A philosophical outlook from Britain's Katie Boulter as she reflects on her first-round defeat yesterday.
Boulter, 25, won three qualifying matches to reach the US Open main draw for the first time, but lost 6-3 6-2 to Russia's Ludmilla Samsonova.

Halep 6-3 6-1 Kucova
And here is Simona Halep: "It is great to be back, I didn't play last year and have had many injuries this year. It is nice to play in front of everybody, thank you for coming.
"I feel better, am more confident - before the tournament I was worried with injuries, I didn't play an official match for five or six months. It is always a challenge to play here.
"I was a little bit lucky I had the chance to play with the roof, so the rain doesn't bother us, I was happy and wanted just to enjoy the moment."
Let's have a quick glance at the scores in the other suspended matches on the outdoor courts at Flushing Meadows.
In the men's singles, Russian fifth seed Andrey Rublev won a first-set tie-break against Spain's Pedro Martinez.
So too did highly-rated Spanish teenager Carlos Alcaraz - who you will remember beat Britain's Cameron Norrie - in his second-round match against France's Arthur Rinderknech.
If Evans beats Giron he will face the winner of Bulgarian 15th seed Grigor Dimitrov and Australia's Alexis Popyrin. The first set went the way of Popyrin in a tie-break.
Is this going to be the fortnight where Ukraine's Elina Svitolina finally lands a Grand Slam? The fifth seed leads 6-2 5-5 in her second-round match against Spain's Rebeka Masarova.
No breaks of serve yet in the early stages between Czech Marketa Vondrousova - the 2019 French Open finalist - and Russian 25th seed Daria Kasatkina.
Halep 6-3 6-1 Kucova
Simona Halep only needs the one! She races into the third round in impressive fashion.
*Halep 6-3 5-1 Kucova
Just too good. Kristina Kucova draws Simona Halep to the net but the Romanian is equal to it and saunters forward to whip away a forehand winner. Kucova then goes long and that brings up two match points.
*Halep 6-3 5-1 Kucova
Simona Halep breaks and is one game away from the third round.
Halep 6-3 4-1 Kucova*
Ruthless from Simona Halep, a combination of well-timed strokes leaves Kristina Kucova down on one knee as the 12th seed edges to 30-0, and then pulls off a delightful lob to bring up three break points.
Halep 6-3 4-1 Kucova*
Simona Halep watches a volley drop on to her strings and plucks it out of the sky, racing to 40-0 on serve and then holding with some punchy groundstrokes. She's closing in.
*Halep 6-3 3-1 Kucova
Simona Halep is flying on Ashe, a set and a break to the good but Kucova gets on the board for the first time in the second set to stem the flow.
